Hey,this is my first smaller cabinet grow...what i did was turn 2 floor speakers into 1 and it looks completly normal sitting there, and no light is emited from the box the way i have it setup....i initially had the 2 front ports on the front face below the sub hole open as passive intakes, but now you can see on the rear image with the 2 grates on the exhaust at the top and the intake at the bottom....the seeds i have are bag seeds unfortinatly but from really good purple kush!

i have 2 250W cfl grow lights 4500k,i intend to go to 2700 or 3000k during flower...

any help or advice is appreciated

cool I love speakerbox grows. You're gonna need to lightproof those intakes...check out 'scrublouver' it's an easy to build low profile light trap created by a forum user named scrubninja. If you add a filter I suggest the wolfman zen style diy pencil holder carbon filter...they work great for small setups.

yep the intakes have been wrapped with gorilla tape on the inside and blocked off,no light emits from the front of the box...the rear grills as you can see are my intake/exhaust...and yea i havnt looked into carbon filters yet as my plants have just started...but i will def look into the wofman zen cabron filter

Looking good! Not sure of your dimensions, but 500w looks to be overkill for that space. If it will fit in the speaker, you would be better off using one bulb mounted horizontally instead of two vertically. With CFLs, the majority of the light is emitted from the sides of the bulbs, rather than the top/end. Plus you would have less heat to deal with and have more height which is always useful when flowering.

Maybe you could get some small CFLs and distribute the lights better and get better yield, I saw this grow using two 23w CFLs and harvest 43gs I was wondering how he did but he did
Happy grow

I saw this grow using 2 23w CFLs and harvest 43gs dry buds you will be able to place light little closer to canopy plants and Increase yield
Happy grow

hmm i only hung them like that to make up for the space, then once the plants were taller to put them on a pully horizotal, with the 2 side by side length wise

i was sorta debating adding a few more sockets in the box lower mounted on the sides, and put smaller cfls....

I figured the more light the better and i had these big ones given to me 4 free....is there a way to measure to much light ? like max watts per sq in?

Not that I know of, but the question of most relevance is 'how much heat can I expel thru my filter?' - as long as you can keep the the cab cool enough, you can add as many CFLS as you want (ignoring electricity cost and diminishing returns)

BTW, I looked at your original post and pics and now see that the your space twice as big as I thought , so pls ignore the 500w is overkill comment.

the exhaust is pretty warm coming out,but close to the plant stays fairly cool...The box is aprox 3.5ftH x 2ftWx3 ft long

Hey,so i have a space confinement on my current grow of about 3ft of interal height...i was told to keep my plant in veg till it grows to the size of the cabinet then swap to flower...but im concerned even after swapping to flower the plant will still grow in height? does anyone have experience? do plants grow alot during flowering?

going from a 18/6 to a 12/12

plant will sometimes double or triple in size during flower. I'd try to get a nice flat almost full canopy, then flip to flower. The first 2 weeks of flower you will get a bunch of stretch and it will fill the rest of the cabinet. I would start training early and maybe top it once or twice when it get to the 4th node or so. Try to get it nice and full but short.

Or check out some other people's scrog grows and see how full they get their screen before the flip, and how full it is at the end. Skim though some threads and find before/after post that show how much stretch other people get.

Bright white CFLs will keep your girls squad so first 3 or 4 weeks of flower try to use that
Soft white she is going to stretch little more only during first 2 or 3 weeks of flower then you can switch to all soft white CFLs
Happy grow ops

Another Update: Ive been using a nitrogen mix,i notice alot of lower growth in the plant after fimming it,I have also started a second seed, which is a purple kush seed which has sprung up extremely quick...i plant to lst the hell out of these plants to keep them low in the box, with big yields hopefully!

Tell her to grow quick and yield lots of buds for you.

1. Mount bulbs sideways. You could use one for veg if this were the case and probably get even more usable light at half the watts.
2.prop the plants up to be as close to those lights as you can without it getting too hot for them.
3. scrog them.

Any questions? If not, best of luck.
