southerncaliforniaclones dot com Rip Off, a friendly heads up to CA patients

This is in regards to Southern California Clones

I found these guys on craigslist, and after reading a few reviews online I decided to purchase some plants from them.

I will not disclose amount, I will however say that a certain amount of strains was discussed and agreed upon.

I sadly have to warn other fellow patients to stay away. Here is my experience:

Clones were delivered promptly, seller or "collective" did not really verify my paperwork upon delivery. She and her driver glanced at it. It was troubling because this type of behavior sets us back as an industry. That is not my complaint though.

After a month and a half of growing, the plants started to look awfully similar.

I have about 10 years of growing experience, so my complaint is valid. I have only identified 3 different strains and even thats questionable.

I make this claim after observing leaf size, shape, stalk color, rate of growth, and nutrient uptake.

What makes it even more of an insult, two of the plants that are supposed to be the same strain "Grand daddy Purple" are obviously a different plant. One is short and stalky with broad leaves and much lighter in color, while the other is obviously a sativa with longer, slimmer leaves. Difference in color is most likely due to a different nutrient uptake or need for nutrients. Obviously the darker green one is in abundance of nitrogen while the other could use more. However they are fed the same.

My frustration is the time and effort spent growing them, not to mention I am allowed a certain number I do not wish to overshoot as an owner of a small collective.

I will leave room for error, maybe their clones got mixed up on a massive basis. I highly doubt it though. Speaking with the owner prior to delivery she expressed their policy and limiting the number of strains. Extra cash was offered and she agreed to delivery a specific number of strains.

I must admit the plants look very healthy and every single clone made it and they have been been pest free. No mildew either.

So to potential clients, beware, I am putting this out simply out of frustration. Don't take my word for it, just be cautious dealing with this "collective".

Owner also could not tell me how they verify their genetics, where they obtain their strains, or how they can vouch for their strains.
You are left with the only option of just taking their word for it.

If you are growing for yourself then it might be worth it, but I can not just name plants and pass it onto my patients. So this creates a problem, and no one likes "mystery weed" when they contribute their funds to a collective.

I did not contact the owner, I simply see no benefit in doing so since I will not be doing any further business with them.
My overall experience with them was sketchy to say the least.

Save yourself the doubt and trouble, start from seed, find reputable seed bank. I should have known better.

p.s. in the attached photo, supposedly both these plants are GDP.

I never heard of them. The plants are not even flowering yet. Maybe they had different phenos of the strain or the clones came from different mothers of the same strain.. Wait til you flower to pass judgement. If they were infested with pests. that would be bad. Luckily that's not the case. You probably are right though considering most dispensaries have lied about their strains.

Personally the only club I trust is harborside. I'm 8 hours from there

you are absolutely right, I will come back after harvest (around end of March) to either confirm or take back what I said. However if I'm right, and I believe I am 90%, I'd like to give other folks a heads up. I hate to see this type of shit being peddled around just so they can make a buck.

Also it is not a brick and mortar type of dispensary. It's a delivery service only dealing in clones, they don't carry flowers or anything else.

they were delivered in pairs in rockwool and a plastic tray. Each pair was labeled with the supposed strain.

I planted 2 per pot because they are 10 gallon pots. All I had on hand for this grow, moneys tight, gotta improvise. Not giving them a whole lot of space but works for SOG style of a grow. Plus running 1000watt bulbs they get decent light.

Yea, I have never heard of them either.. I use a collective in N SD County, they also pretty much only deal with the clones and seeds, not much in the way of flowers, but they germinate their seeds on a regular basis to keep the mother turnover every 3 months or so which keeps things pretty fresh. they also dont take in clones from anyone so everything is kept in check. pretty much the only ones i trust for valid genetics these days.

They dont play around which I like, and again, its kept pretty tight nit so we are all able to communicate about the strains we are all growing. If i have problems i can contact them and since they are growing out the same strains, we can brainstorm about any problems that might arise. they are certainly worth a look.

Sounds good, would you mind sharing their name? Are they on weedmaps? I'm considering Cloneville in studio city, but I wouldn't mind checking out the collective you are speaking of.

Seems legit, I like the fact that they only have a few strains available in clones at a time. Lets face it, keeping over 50 strains alive is a big operation, too big for a mom n pop type of co-op. Adds validity to their menu, also the seeds are priced right for Humbolt, just wish they were a little cheaper since we are in CA.

I ordered from southerncaliforniaclones dot com and I was very happy with the clones I got. They were pm/pest free and looked really good. I ordered 3 different strains, 2 of them were og's and 1 of them was a purple kush. As babies they all looked the same, but now that they are almost ready to harvest they definitely have their own look. The owner has been helpful, I called her 3 times to ask her a few questions I had along the way and she knows what shes talking about because my plants looks amazing. I have been growing for 5 years and after exchanging our gardening tips, she definitely has some good tips and tricks. I used to get meds from this place, but due to the high volume of clone orders, the owner said she had to cut back on flowering to create room to keep more clones. I have always been skeptical about recieveing true genetics from places, and I dont believe she has seeds for donation, but she did happen to have a seed bag that she just received in the mail and they were legit seeds. Also, when I asked for Skywalker OG she was out at the time and she told me she was out when she could have easily given me WHOKNOWSWHAT, but instead she recommended another strain. I will call her back. I had a bad experience with Clones queens and Cloneville so just double check the clones before paying for them.

quick update, I did in fact get ripped off. I ordered 10 strains and received 3. They are very distinct and different from each other. 100% sure it's like night and day. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!
