Sour Kandy (Kandy Kush x Sour Diesel)

Seeds are the product of a Sour Diesel male that must have polinated my Kandy Kush female due to moving it around so much with obvious preflowers because I gathered approx 70 seeds from the KK and never saw sign of herm even while harvesting and smoking the buds. I chose that name myself, and guess I am the only person to cross these strains that I could find. It is possible that they were crossed by a Holy Grail Kush plant that did herm late into flower, but I suspect that was the result of the several immature seeds I also collected and discarded.

Now, onto the grow. I started 6 seeds in peat pellets in a gem tray with dome on 10/24. Within 1 week all 6 seeds popped and broke ground. Seemed to be about 2 a day after day 3 or 4 when the 1st 2 came up. I am using Just Natural Organic Potting Mix screened to remove as much filler chunks as possible. I use RO water, and will have nicely amended soils to transplant into.

For veg, I will be using Espoma Bio-Tone Starter Plus 6-3-3 as my sole feed source while in the 1 gal pots along with AACT's to keep a good healthy micro heard going. When I transplant into 3 gal pots, I will be using a mixture of amended soil and the Bio-Tone and continue the AACT's.

I am currently 2" from tops with 2 4' 2 bulb T8's with 3000k tubes to assist with faster root development. Once I see 2-3 nodes above the single leafe set, I will switch to 4' 8 bulb T5HO with even mix 4000k and 5000k tubes with the 2 T8 fixtures used as side lighting. Once they are topped and trained out to a solid 18"x18" they will go into 10 gal pots of amended soil under 1000w MH for 2 weeks at 14/10, then will switch to HPS bulb for the finish.

I am 100% organic on this run, and trying to keep it RO water and AACT teas only, but will add nute brews as needed if any issues should arrise. I am still very new to growing and organics in general (3 harvests and 1 pending in 3-4 weeks, 2nd attempt with organics) and am definitely open to advice and constructive criticism.

I will get pics up tonight when I get home.

Ok, sorry for the delay. Work has been crazy. Here is the pic I promised. Nothing really more to add. 1 of them are laying over a bit due to dropping the light on it. Oops. Im sure she will be ok though. I will just repot deeper in a few weeks.

Ok, been super busy with work and haven't had much time to update. Things are moving along, just a bit slower than I wanted. Had a learning curve regarding watering these babies as I have never used peat base before, and am still working on getting this feeding dialed in as well. I see that top dressing with the Bio-Tone Starter Plus didn't do as much as I had hoped, but I did grab the entire Espoma Organic liquid line. I fed with 1 cap per gal with Start on the 17th along with the 3 tsp per 1 gal pot topdress I mixed into the top 1.5"-2" of soil, noticed some greening up, then a slight lightening again a few days later, then decided it was time to just go full on with the Grow yesterday. I mixed 1.5 caps to a gallon of ro water and watered with that about 2 days ago. They seem to have greened up nicely again. I also transfered them from my germ area under the 3000k T8's to my veg area under 8 tube 4' T5 with all 6500k tubes for now. I also noticed under the T8's @ 24/0 they were looking droopy, so I gave them a 2 hr dark period before switching lights and they responded well. Still some slight yellowing in the older lower growth, and slight drooping still in those same leaves, but overall, much happier and healthier looking now under the T5. I set my timer to 23/1 for now and will be closely observing how they respond to the dark period until I find the min dark period required to maintain healthy looking foliage. Environment has been steady 77°-80° and RH 60-65%. I will be adding new tubes to my T5 in about a week. The new tubes will be 4 Agromax Pure Par tubes and 4 5400k Super Veg tubes mixed every other 1.

Things are starting to move alonge nicely. Got the watering down, nutes working well, environment is all in check. Was at the 6th node opening the 7th and I topped at the 4th nodes, removing the lower 2 completely. I will then be topping the 4 mains into 8 and cloning those 4 tops to send through the flowering room after well rooted to determine sex and see how the flower out. This will give me the time I need to veg properly. I had an extra pot sitting around and decided to try to scrape the stem of 1 f the tops I took to see if it would root. Not likely I am sure, but I will never know until I try.

Well, it’s been a while. I had a very crazy life going for a bit and was just to busy to update. Currently in week 1 of flower. Had a few hiccups along the way in veg, but overall things have balanced out and are doing well. This strain is very tolerable to many issues. I hit an N tox followed by an mg def, then through water only, balanced out the N tox, but noticed an N def in lower older leaves. Gave a VERY low dose of Grow to help balance things out, worked well, gave a normal dose of Grow 1 week later and topdressed with 1 cup ewc to help balance the rest of the soil. 2 days later I topdressed with another 1 cup ewc mixed with 1/2 c Garden Tone. Everything looks really good again now. Lights were flipped from 24/0 to 12.5/11.5 on Sunday after 24 hr dark.

Ok, so I realized a while ago that the title to this journal is quite deceptive now. The beans I originally thought were Kandy Kush x Sour Diesel, turns out are Holy Grail Kush fem. Which is absolutely fine by me as my 1st grow with this strain I produced these seeds from some amazing quality producing plants! So, as I am certain of the genetic stock these plants were self-bred from, I am equally certain I will pull some bomb ass smoke. Here is a video from this morning.
