Soon to be a Colorado import... How difficult is it to get a med card?

I plan on being in Colorado in 2017. How hard is it to get a medical recomendation? I'm a disabled vet at 70%. I have PTSD, anxiety, arthritis of the spine, and acl repair... Do y'all think I could swing it? How longs that process take?

they don't have ptsd on the list yet so that ones out, but the rest sounds like you should be able to get a red card, well purple now but yeah its a long process as you have to wait for the state to review the application and issue your card last I knew it took like 6-8 weeks or some crap like that. why do you want a red card? rec shops are under more stringent requirements then med shops. it would not surprise me if the testing that the rec shops have to do would cause a bunch of med shops to admit they are using things that the rec shops cant only because they are allowed to by not having to have their products tested

The reason I want a med card, basically is to have free reign to which ever dispensary I want to go to. I don't know about the lower requirements for med shops, but I'm sure there's a few businesses around that will get quality medicine to their customers... Also heard, if you convince your doc you juice your plants or take them orally, you can possibly grow up to 20 plants. Again, could be hear say. Do I have to be a permanent resident for an extended period of time, before I can apply? Or do I just need a Colorado address?

Colorado id and lease/utility bill are usually all you need each town/county can have different laws and the state does not recognize extended plant counts basically you need to follow what ever the law is for the county you live in. Denver has a cap of 12 plants for med regardless of what your card says.

Just a Colorado Id is fine, you don't need utility bills. Takes about 30 minutes at the docs office. Once they give you the paperwork, make a copy and mail the required papers to the state via certified mail. Save the mail receipt and you can use that and a copy of your rec in most med stores for 30 days while you wait on your card but are limited to shopping Monday - Friday, 8-5 because they have to verify with mmed that the app hasn't been declined. . My card took about 28 days earlier this year.

Yes 1st thing: colorado ID, then you can go to get your card and purchase that same day with receipt. Make sure you call ahead to the dispensary of your choice just to make sure they will honor the receipt

The original post was too. You don't even need a Colorado ID just proof of residence.

This may be a dumb question, but since Colorado is a medical and recreational state now, does a medical card really matter now? Other than for lower prices and maybe something saying a doctors says you need this?

Lower tax, higher limits on the amount you can buy in one day, affirmative defence on plant counts higher than 6, and if you're not in Denver there are plenty of areas in the state that don't have any rec stores, but do have med stores.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately I am not in a med or rec. state. I have been trying to find maps of rec. sites on/near the Nebraska border. It is about a 13 hour drive to Denver. I would like to visit the state, legally buy some recreational, see some of the area, and NOT bring any back.

Colorado is a great place. I hope you get to spend some time in the mountains, not just the cities along the front range. There are mountain rec shops as well.

A medical card still allows someone to buy more, grow more, less tax, etc.

Bring lots of money. You will need it here. Drive safely.
