I have known how to grow shrooms for quite a while but i need to know which spore to order.

ALso after the cake has been harvested do i just put it back into the jar and it starts growth again?

You don't really need to worry about a fruiting chamber until you have fully colonized the jars.

After the jars are fully colonized you birth them...and then put them in the fruiting chamber to what else, fruit.

After a couple of flushes you will just have to throw the cakes out.

I'm currently growing Golden Teachers...out of 12 jars I have 11 colonizing and so far no contamination.

On the first 6 jars I used vermiculite and Brown Rice Flour
On the last 6 jars I used vermiculite and Brown Rice (I soaked the rice all night the night before).

I think I missed one of the jars because all 12 have signs of growth except on jar so I probably did.

Best of luck to you.

bobharvey notice any difference in the amount of growth, or the rate of growth, in the flour/rice? i think you should post your results if so. a lot of us would be interested.

No real difference yet. The only thing I have noticed is that with the Brown Rice the spores germinated in different spots on both sides of the jars. Instead of colonizing in one spot on both inoculation sites, there are about 3 or 4 different spots on just one side. I hope that makes sense.

I doubt that will have any difference. The rate at which they are colonizing is very slow.

I don't have a camera so I can't document any of this stuff.
