some buds ready, some not

Ok so I know for sure the cola of my one plant is ready and some nugs underneath, but the lower buds are deff. Not ready and still more developing, can I cut the cola and lower buds and have the plant still produce more and mature the other nugs? Or will the plant just die?

Absolutely, take what is ready and leave the rest to mature. I try to never take more than 1/3 of the plant if i am harvesting in stages.

I have read that this really helps with overall yields, i think i'm gonna try it this time, i am also in the same dilema you are. some buds look almost over done and some need a week or two....

i got two plants the top of one was without a doubt done so i cut the cola and like 2 lower nugs, the rest all the hairs are still white, and my second plant the pistils dont seem to be changing orange at all, the buds just keep growing which is awesome!

This is a strawberry cough i harvested in august.
I harvested the tops of the plant first, then two weeks later
i harvested the bottom half.
The top 14 buds dried at 78g the bottom half 79g
making it just over a 5.5oz total.
This was a bushy plant, 25 inches tall and 30 inches wide,
with lots of tops and a pretty even canopy.
The extra time and light the bottom buds got really helped a lot.

From what I have been reading, you have to prepare for harvest. How does this work with these partial harvests? Could I flush the plant and do 48 hrs of darkness and harvest only the tops and then go back to the regular light cycle before harvesting the rest?

It's not that complicated, really. No x hours of darkness, no flush, no voodoo. Just cut the top off and hang it up to dry. Continue growing as normal for the duration. You'll be fine. Read up about drying and curing, they'll do more to make your bud tasty and smooth than any flush or darkness, etc.
Good Luck, you're getting to the fun part now!

Good way to get hermies.

Just harvest what is ripe, then put the plant back in its normal cycle for a couple weeks.

You could re-veg. Do your first harvest, and then go back to your vegetative light schedule for a month, then reflower.

I'm growing an auto. So I wouldn't be able to do that. But I should still be able to harvest what is ripe. Sounds good. This is my very first plant and its turned out ok.

Thanks for all the advice!
