soil vs hydro

Personally I think "tastes like chemicals" is a myth. A well-done hydro run will yield impeccable product. I am not saying "hydro is better than soil"; I respect the soil brotherhood too much. But I do not believe that hydro is inherently at a disadvantage.
Yeah, that debate can get icky. You have your religion; I have mine. We both believe in what we do, and I for one am pleased to live, let live and coexist in peace, harmony and enhanced appetite. :D
cheers 'neer
And therein lies the rub. You are 100% correct. But the key words are well run. I've had hydro that was every bit as potent and tasty as anything I've produced. NOT MANY TIMES, but I've seen it. My buddy in college grew hydro, and was REALLY GOOD at it!!
To me, the benefits of hydro do not in any way offset the hassle. I watched this guy work his magic many times. He was on top of his game and it took real effort to be there, He LOVED it tho.....and again, thats why he was so successful. He was involved with Hydroponics in its infancy, and to him, it was all about the learning. (Sound familiar?)

But just to keep the argument going (LOL), I believe there IS a difference in taste. Maybe it cant be quantified, but it most definitely is there. I noticed it when I stopped using chemical nutes, and so did all my friends.

Im sorry im runnin both now and the Hydro finishes quicker and fills out nicely good frost and smell but the soil will always have earthy tastes to that you can not get from hydro! but both are good!!

I don't taste chemicals...I taste dank bud. It come down to nutrient uptake. As hungryman420 noted I only notice the absence of the earthy tones in hydroponics- which is exactly the preference of mine, especially the fruity strains. I use chemicals and I don't "flush", never tasted dyna gro yet. But this is just in my experience, which is limited.

Don't be sorry hungryman, this is good shit!! A civil disagreement. I only stated what I did as my personal belief, not empirical fact. I really do have alot of respect for those who have the patience to pull off and maintain a hydro system. My only experience with it was watching my roommate back in the 70's. This dude had a friggin' passion for hydroponics.
To ME, hydro is just so much more complex, that any benefits one might get from it do not make it worth my while. I'm a lazy, "keep it simple" kinda guy. But back in my 20's, I'd probably have been all over it to learn something new.

If you were to take a mother plant and grow 1 plant per each setup, Soil vs. Hydro

and gave them both the same amount of care and kept all readings of PH, PPM ect....in the perfect zones

You would most likely find that your Hydro plant will be better. I suggest Ebb & Flo with 6 inch Rock wool cubes.

NOT DOWNING SOIL by any means I have only grown 1 hydro plant from a clone from one of my outdoor girls

and the indoor version looks and smells 100% better than the outdoor girl. "White Russian seems to be a very sensitive strain for outdoors".

Somebody needs to take a shot of the nutes they use then hit a bowl....then tell us if it tastes the same. ha ha ha

i think hydro grows quicker and yields are high but when comparing soil vs hydro i believe there is a taste difference an what i herd most buyers prefer soil hydro is a art sure it can go south on you in a moments notice where as soil is more forgiving
then it comes down to actual pwer usage space etc where as if you got the space IMO your better of goin soil for instance cloneing guy uses bubble cloner clones so many but the room it took where as in soil if you cloned you can do more in less space
i seen a hydro set up that when finished cost the guy approx 25,000 in mold damage from the humidity created

Very right on DrFever soil is less of a problom and more forgiving! its all on how much time you spend with your ladies and how much love your putting into them! But as far as taste from the 2 soil all the way unless you got sum good OG or Kush genetics then your gona have sum nasty stanky budz in hydro but youll be missing flavors. Your yeild will be bigger in hydro tho no matter what Constant feed always wins!! But i only smoke soil grown buddah and sell my Hydro to despencerys but i hope yur grows go well and the best of luck!!
