I would get everything ready and just be gentle when pulling plants and dirt out of the pots,Just shake off as much dirt as you can and rinse under luke warm water(not cold)
I'm "green" when It comes to growing but this worked great when I decided to go dwc,and my plants were about 12" tall! They looked unhappy for a couple days and then all Smiles!!!
good luck.

i got some clones and some were in soil, like dux said get evrything ready, i rinsed mine in some room temp water with a good ph till all dirt was off, set them in the pot and carefully put the hydrorock around them. they took very good. couldent tell the difference between them in about a week.

I have done the same, wash off as much dirt gently but I placed in net pots with hydrotan pellets. No problems for my ebb and flow and the water doesn't seem to have dirt in it. Hell, I have seen some vids where clones/seeds were started in jiffy pucks and then inserted into 3-4 inch rock wool blocks. They fit right in and the rock wool acts like a filter and wont let loose soil escape. I would not do that until you have roots coming out of the puck.
What ever soil you miss, I am sure will break loose and will get tossed out when you change your res.
