Hey guys. Im just wondering if i should soak my hydroton in nutes. Im starting from seedlings in rockwool. My only concern is exposing the extremely sensitive root to nutes right away.

You dont have to soak your hydroton, however if its straight out of the bag you have to rinse it cause theres alot of dust on the balls. If your starting in rockwool soak that over night in PH 5.0-5.5 water then let dry make a bottle of PH 5.8 water for watering the rockwool.I use a spray bottle its easyer to control the amount of water going into the rw..Remember not to soak the rw it should be damp..You dont have to add nutes to your seedlings unless its a special addtive made for seedlings to help root growth..Nutes are not needed til about 2-3 weeks at that point add a low dose see how they react if they dont burn its safe to add more if they do burn flush asap with clean 5.8 water..

Thanks buddy. I got all that, i was just in the grey about if soaking hydroton in nutes is even worth anything. I already filled up the kitchen sink and put all the hydroton in it. swished it around with my hand and then removed with a strainer. I did that three time, to be safe.

yeah what i did with my hydroton, is got a big plastic container filled with ph'd 5.8 water and let them soak until i need to use them and when i remove some i use a straining spoon then add more hydroton to be rinsed, this way i always have some ready to go. all the dust and shit just sits at the bottom of the tray. so far has worked perfectly for me.
