IMG_20111017_193744.jpgStrains: Full moon, AK48, and BlackBerry
Food: Vita Grow dry http://www.vitagrow.com/
Other: Also used seaweed extract, H2O2, SM-90, and sulfuric acid (PH down)

Previously I grew under 2x 65W CFL in a 4X2x5 tent; now I have upgraded to a 4x4x7 tent and a 400w HPS/MH with fan exhaust. Been pretty happy with my results goodbye dirt..

I did top these plants when they were young so they would be bushy. I started them around the first week of July had and started flowering September 30th . Been flowering almost 2 1/2 weeks. Will start flushing at week 7 and harvest at week 9. Not sure if tap water is ok or should get distilled. My tap has PH around 7.5 do I use any PH down or just nothing for flushing?

I had a few setbacks with slime and root rot that cost me some time. I found that the SM-90 seemed to be causing the slime and eventually root rot. I liked the smell of the SM-90, nice lemony smell covered the weed smell somewhat. After many Peroxide baths and using the sulfuric acid I now have nice healthy roots. I'm going to hold off on the sm-90 for now; maybe I just got a bad batch or something.

I think the seaweed extract is good boosting agent, especially for blooming.
The plants are getting so big, it's hard to move around. Their sucking up so much water I have to refill the buckets every 3-day or so. Maybe need to go the ebb flood and drain route or at least a re-circulating DWC.
Back when I used the CFL my plants would only yield a little under an ounce. Hopping I can get 1.5- 2 oz per plant, maybe more. Differently the largest plants I have grown so far.

Let me know what you think, any tips are welcome.
Thanks

I have my main grow tent and a small cabinet for growing clones. I usually wait till flowering time and cut 6-8 clones for my next cycle. I'm getting better at the clones 7 of my last 8 survived.. I usually give extras to my friends as I can only flower 4 plants at a time.. I have limited space and can't let the smell get out of control.
Does side lighting help more or just put extra bulbs over top?
Thanks

Well I remove most of the lower branches (lollypop) of the flowering plants and make them into clones. I use clonex gel and rockwool cubes in a cheep plastic dome till the roots take (10-14 days). Then I put them on a rack over a tub (see pic) and let the bubles keep them wet. Once I got some good looking roots, I'll move them to the hydro sysetem or dirt. Have to stall them somehow till i have room again in my main tent

depends on how much air fan pulls but use your hand the judge heat if to hot on hand it will be to hot for plants

Hey Lurker..as arizoning was suggesting, you could wait longer to start the clones so you don't have to "stall" your clones from overgrowing the clone area.

This does not mean you have to take the clones later tho..

I take them at the beginning of flowering as well, then place them in a ziplock bag with a bit of breath in it and into a small box which goes into the crisper drawer in the fridge. Just make sure it's not too cold and won't freeze them. Every couple weeks open the bag(s) and give em another refill of breath. I have kept clones this way for a few months, with 100% success. I bet you could even go much longer.

When you take em out of the fridge, clip off a little bit of the bottom where the cut was made (it will be a bit dry), and proceed as normal with the clonex, etc.

I would go so far as to say this even works better than doing them fresh (perhaps by stratification?). Dunno, but it does. Also, it gives you clones whenever you need em.

Thanks Bigoberry for that tip, didn't know they would keep that long ...
Also that cool tube work really well, it pretty big, 6" diameter tube . My exhust fan is a 4" rated @ 180cfm, but I only run it at half power. The tent stays really cool. I think I could get away with the plants getting as close as 6-8 inches from the tube. I know your suppose to stay like 18 inches away, but the tube sucks heat away so well.
My plants keep growing up now and my light is almost at the top of the tent. Hopefully they don't get to much taller, don't want to supercropp but may have to.

Looks great Lurker. If you're not having heat issues, you're absolutely right in getting the light as close as possible. good luck!

That's a nice chart man.. but I'd like to quote Maximum Yield magazine here:

"Footcandles. Another obsolete unit, the footcandle (fc) (also foot candle or foot-candle) is a unit of illuminance, equivalent to the light shining on a surface placed one foot away from a source having an intensity of one candle (a candlepower of one.) Although you may still see footcandles (or even candlepower) in older literature and even on some light meters, lux (one fc = 10.764 lux) is the preferred illuminance unit."

Thanks.. Looks as if the plants finally stopped growing up.. the buds are coming in nicely now I'll throw some pics up when I get a chance.

Also just completed my home made CO2 generator. I used 3x 2liters. anyone know if that good enough or should i go with some gallon jugs? (tent size is 4x4x7.5)
