Let me list reason four of the snakeoil led bs spewed out here - Hos are too hot! No dude your house is too hot, no one likes living in a hot stuffy indoor climate so why subject your wife kids pets and plants to it. Pop over to the developed world for five seconds and let us sell you some climate control so you can live like the rest of us.

Maybe yo wife and kids wont leave you for being so cheap and you can create an indoor environment that isnt plus thirty celcius and eighty relative humidity.

Oh id agree but theres a cut off point, take your led back in ten years, tell them a few diodes have blown and watch them do fuck alk about it.

Cunning marketing, the warranty is actually nowhere near this long.

I have zero against leds, awesome lights. Problem comes listening to all the hype so really its those peeps and not specificalky leds that touched me in a private place and made me champion the truth as much as those that champion the hype.

Why are you one of these growers...?

I don’t think anyone is hyping LED in this thread. But I hear you, loud and clear, there are some shady marketing practices out there, and a big group of zealots who act like they are magical unicorn lights. I think most in this thread aren’t like that. Nobody’s warranty on a light fixture is 10 years, but the life expectancy of the diodes themselves is in that range. Time will tell.

Dude, now you are being flat dumb.

Commercial greenhouses in food and ornamental markets, municipal streetlamps, warehouses, office buildings, grocery stores and every other entity imaginable are all converting to LED lighting. These things take time, and you will be left in the past unless you get your head right about it.

The buggy whip salesman used to be really upset because of the new automotive carriages destroying their business, how many buggy whip salesman do you know today?

I have nothing against HID lighting, but you won’t be able to give that shit away in a few years.

A number of cities have actually outlawed them within city limits already

I agree but for specific hobbies bulbs will likely be available for many years.

An example is vaacuum tubes for guitar amps. Not made since the 60’s except for a couple of manufacturers for instrument tubes. You can buy them easily.

Led streetlights arent brighter, they illuminate more as a spot not the surroundings, most in the uk miss the hps, dont like the colour or the glare and has been reported that as our streets are darker they are unsafer with leds.

So fucking what, they werent put in as a superior light, they were put in as a cost saving exercise. The disadvantages have been made known in the national bbc news here a few times.

Not convincing to base grow led lights on other world applications and at around 0.1watts leds get very very efficient not at 3 or 5 watts run at half power, here we see why they never took over the market.

Havent even touched on spectrum yet, reason 5.

Were we hacked again?
There was some downtime, I think that user is a bot who is probing for security vulnerabilities.

I appreciate that you’re mad at or about the horticultural LED movement, but I do not believe your reasoning is entirely sound. We can disagree, and everything will be OK. I do not want to be a part of the holy war, on any side, I am just calling how I see it. The extremism on both sides almost makes me want to run pure CFL...:P not.)

consensus doesnt grow plants and if you're talking about spectrum i cant remember seeing much that beat the 315. There are plenty of good reasons to use high quality leds and plenty of good reasons to use hps. not sure why anybody cares as much as you seem to what the next wo/man is using. I wish you the best with your growing but think Ive had about enough of this thread. Good luck!
