I was just in there yesterday buying two cans, and he said a major butane manufacturer in japan just blew up recently. He said he wouldn't be surprised if they went up 25-30$ per can in the next 2-3 weeks. :O

Explosion was in South Korea and I have a few cans that I will start the bidding for at only $20 a can, but I offer such a deal, only because I use tanks.

How much had the storekeeper already raised his price?

Where do most of the big tanks come from? Gas guy told me ships from ohio or texas usually but where does the actual gas come from?

The article i read about korea said something like 60% of the worldwide supply, but then went on to mention can brands only. I had been concerned with this as the gas store has already come up from 400 to 550 on my 120lb simply because they know and wanna make a bit more and id hate for them to raise it even more from this too.

Then go to home depot for better value. Bernzomatic costs $5 per can and is ISOBUTANE which is cleaner and leaves a better final product than n-butane. If not, propane has been giving sick ass results cheaper than butane for sure.

I get the Colibri brand for my torch for $5.99 a can at the smoke shop up the street.

How compolicated is it actually to filter regular butane?
distill it. That's the only way I know of. It doesn't remove everything. I know a wax maker who distills his used 190 proof alcohol and new butane.

prices are going up because sellers know now what its being used to make.
He had mentioned that as well.

Idk why I said japan either, he said south Korea.

just bought two more cans yesterday of iolite butane, 6 bucks a can, and the cheapest they had. along with that I bought two ounces of fine trim for fifty bucks an oz. I'll run the two cans through it this evening and what I get.

Talked to a buddy who runs a shop...Said they can't even get cases of Power5, they just don't have 'em. Says no problem getting Lucienne and Colibri and some other non korean brands...But prices are probably going to go up.

I don't get it. Power x5 is still everywhere. And I haven't seen any increase in price yet. Besides I heard from a friend whip it x9 was better, its supposed to be cleaner. What's the best butane to buy?
