Small Scale Aerated Compost Tea Brewer

I wanted to share a trick I stumbled on after trying to find a way to make a small batch of aerated compost tea.
Most of the recipes I had come across described very large batches with complex aeration mechanisms calling for a bigger pump than I had around the house. While I was quite happy with the results from the small 5 litre batch I was making, I wanted to improve after noticing certain parts of the batch remain deoxygenated and unaffected by the action of the small pump and airstone hanging into the old cooking pot.

It works like this. I have a 50mm or so pipe at a little over a metre in length. It has a cap at one end. This holds the brew. The airstone at the bottom causes bubbles to travel in the water across the whole length of the PVC pipe leaving no room for dead anaerobic spots.

Happy growing everyone and I hope this idea helps out some small scale backyard brewers and growers out
