i got 4 girls flowering one is 6ft. Under a 400 watt hps. I got a cfl and a 100 watt bulb as side and bottom lighting. Will the different spectrum in light colours have a negative affect against the redlight produced by the hps. Would a redlghtbulb be more effective i got some. Just want to know if the extra light doing my plants more harm than good. Thats 2 1st threads i started on the elite forum i should get a prize 4 that lol

Multiple spectrum Bulbs on a plant are a good thing. :peace::blsmoke:
Thats all good gonna throw 2 led desk lamps and a 60 watt redlightbulb in the grow room and another cfl desk lamp. That belladonna is looking real good i might have to grow it myself. So i will have two ordinary lamps one 100 watt bulb and one 60 watt redlightbulb 2 led lamps and 2 90 watt strip fluro desk lamps. All this and my 400 watt hps. Gonna add the extra light to my grow room 2moro

Someone might correct me if I'm wrong here, but from what I know the standard LED desk lamp isnt going to do anything for your ladies. The LED grow lights that are being sold online these days have a different spectrum than what your standard desk lamp is emitting. Also, the same goes for the red bulb you mention. A standard light bulb with red paint does not change the spectrum of light that it puts out.

Stick with the HPS, flouros, and CFLs.

Good luck.

its not a redlightbulb is a fireglow bulb if that makes a difference. The light it emits is red to our vision i dont know if it is red in the light spectrum

I will honestly say at this point that I dont know. :-)

Its nothing that I've ever seen used, or heard of anyone using. How hot does it get? I would say that after seeing one it still looks like your standard incandescent light bulb, and those generally get pretty hot.

This is a subject alot of people do not think about in alot of circumstances, like how long to veg. some people think a 6 footer indoors is the bomb... well when you harvest you find out WRONG. you can only light so much, with a 400watt HPS even 4 inches away you only really properly lighting about 14 inches of plant. Yes 14 inches. now add a 400watt on the side to that... and what do you get? insane results.

You should only grow a plant as tall as you can light it, unless you're adding sidelight(s). if only one, of course you'll want to rotate. i've always thought about instead of having a light mover.. having a plant mover. a platform that slowly turns.

I know exactly what u mean i asked in a thread when to force flower. Most people said when u get 11 nodes or more. No one asked me how much room have i got to grow. Is the plant a sativa. If someone told me my plant would more than triple in size. I wouldnt of waited to get more nodes. More nodes means more buds thats all. If u flower early doesnt mean ur plants potency wil be reduced. As i was lead to believe that was the worst advice ive got from here.

Yeah, misinformation is a bitch. When i started growing, a guide i had read led me to believe a lot of things, like i could finish 4 plants properly with a t12 30w cool tube fluoro. Yeah right...

It's a lot to consider, but as i think i already said, You only need to grow what you can light sufficiently, since we don't have sun's in our houses, we are limited. modes nodes doesnt mean more bud, unless you can light it sufficiently. the plant not only triples in size when flowering, it will throw on a couple nodes, too, before it stretches.

That's another reason topping is so good for indoors, you're getting more tops, closer to the lights, to be sufficiently lighted. topping outdoors isnt really needed, unless you've got a high sativa and want her to bush out.

Wow, I know this thread is really old, but I had the same idea (plant mover) a few months back. I looked into it, and you can get rotating display bases (like they would use in a jewelry store) pretty cheap. If you took about 5 tall plants and put them around a HPS (vertical style) and had them on rotating pedestals, you could have a beautiful crop. I am seriously considering this for my next grow. I just need to find the right strain for it.

A real simple solution would be the vanity lighting fixtures they sell at home depot. They are $9 they hold 3 lights. They are also meant to be mounted on the wall and give a very good side light. You can easily wire them with an old PC power cable. Inexpensive and functional. CFL's work just fine. Because they dont emit a ton of heat, You can keep them relatively close to the plant if space is an issue. Just remember its a plant keep it simple.

we did an experiment on this "plant mover" in highschool and the plant spinning on a record player on a very slow revolution. i guess because of the centrifugal force it caused the plants to bend over and the top touched the pot. that was something like a daisy plant but i think i would do the same thing to weed.
try it i think it would be a cool grow to see

Its the best way to grow indoors. You train your plant sideways and just when its done stretching, like second week of flower, let the top cola grow up.

What you have is a level growing area filled with buds. All the side branches grow towards the light. All the buds are at the same height.

If I had a plant that was 6 feet tall I would light it sideways. Light does not have to hit both sides for a bud to grow.

edit- dam I gotta look at the date of these things
