Should I paint the outside of my black buckets white?

So I understand the reasoning behind using black buckets because they really block the light but I worry about the amount of heat they absorb. Would it make sense to paint the outside of my buckets a flat white?

That way I would keep the light proofing of the black plastic material but the flat white should help reflect some of the heat.

Iv wrapped mine in bubble wrap and mylar emergancy blanket,,it keeps the cold in and the heat out, simples

Paint helps but it isn't very good at it, it peels and it's a messy job. Just use reflectix.

Actually the plan was to use a plastic specific paint like Krylon Fusion. That stuff doesn't peel when applied to plastic.

I still think reflectix will get more of the results you're looking for than paint.
