I'm so impressed with the way you've handled the PM issue, I've experienced and battled it before in my chem fert days and know how much of a F-er it is, I used hydrogen peroxide all the way(same shit for cleaning my airstones), even during flower pmsl. I've been following a while in the background, but I'm totally new to forums and organics...........that black domina looks awesome despite the probs. It was my experience with PM which led me to organics, I'd been growing in coco with canna (chem)nutes for years with great success and despite what a lot of organics people say(ooops.....I am one of them tree huggers now pmsl), minimal effort(my tap water is Ph 7, when I added nutes it was the perfect ph for watering.....I did all the ph testing and shit for about a year before realizing I could just mix it all up and put it in a tank on a dripper no phing or anything, just keep an eye on things now and then).

I'd been growing very lazily this way for years until this problem, which was actually a blessing in disguise. No matter what I did the PM would come back, which led me to the internet and forums and AACT's and organics, my interest in 'actual growing' was reawakened and I'm loving it.

When you first suggested bringing the plants in with PM I wanted to scream NO at you, no matter how good the genetics. But I had no credibility or experience on forums so didn't know the etiquette. Now it is a while ago and I smoke too much of my own gear , but what I got from my research was that the fungus was systemic and what you can see on the leaf is only the flowering body.........and from my experience it was in the plant, even if the mother had no visible PM, it was still passing it on to every clone I took.

After introducing new genetics to try and combat it found they were getting infected as well (too many spores in the room?), I ended up scrapping all my plants, having a total clean out and burning a sulphur candle (not a good idea indoors, it stinks for weeks) to kill any spores. I'm not suggesting you need to do this by the way, it is extreme!!! and this may well have been overkill, but it has done the job.

Hope it turns out well for ya anyway bro, peace.........

Oh, interesting! What led you to that conclusion? - Schluby just shared a link to PM biology a few days ago ( https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct...87kgSqClLuR9vA5tGxcnmmoA&ust=1450305341487626 ) that convinced me that the PM only grows into the upper layer of the leaves?

Hey, just my two cents, PM ends up on the stems and that's why its so hard to effectively control it when spraying fungicides. Once I discovered a acts, I realized you can grow plants in a powdery mildew infected room and still have shiny emeralds with little to no white patches. They simply can't proliferate in a plant, colonized with a diverse microbial environment.

Yeah, like I said my research was quite a while ago now and using the word systemic was a mistake.

but.... as I also mentioned........I've experienced it and managed an infection for over 12 months, that's what led to my conclusion , removing any visible signs and blitzing my plants with all the treatments under the sun, keeping the room spotless, keeping it dry then keeping it humid. It's a bitch I struggled with through three crops and it just makes growing hard work, my yields were getting smaller each crop too.

I'm not saying it's impossible to get rid of, and what I did was drastic, but did the job (sulphur candle). After reading about compost teas during my research of PM treatments and then becoming fascinated by the ROLS threads I decided it was time to totally re-think my growing method so this gave me the opportunity to have a good clear out, sold all my nutes to a mate, bought a shit load of soil and amendments and got some new strains up and running.

If I ever get a plant with powdery mildew in the future it WILL be culled immediately and disposed of carefully, away from my area. I'd also have a good clean up and probably also get a sulphur burner (used in greenhouses) and use that for a while to kill any spores

I agree with you on the aacts thing, I also think 'real healthy' plants have immune resistance anyway. If your plant does have PM though it is already unhealthy and will not produce to it's full potential

@DonBrennon @Jumfrey13 hey guys, thanks for the insight. glad to have you along! PM is for sure a bitch!!

i guess we'll see what's really going to happen once i get the next couple runs through the room, and i have removed all of the "patient zero" plants lol. I really don't want to have to shut down. i just did one to remodel and i'm finally rolling along again haha.

I agree about the stems, that's where i starting having infections once i was no longer spraying the plants with a treatment.

the plan in place is that once i take down the domina, i'm going to wipe down the room from head to toe, mop the floors, clean the hoods, wash the exhaust filter sleeve, and OZONE the living shit out of the flower room. this should help take care of a vast majority of the spores that are possibly in the room still, and it will smell like clean sheets when i am done, and not of sulfur lol. I could only imagine that candle smell!!!

i don't believe that it will be carried systemically from clean clones just based on how it overwinters on other plants. i'll make a clone dip before i even put them in the cloner to see if that has some good effect as well. we'll see though.

my veg room has not been treated in 2 weeks and there is no sign of mildew. I'm going to spray everything down today anyway just for safe measures.

I totally agree with you on the compost teas and what not, but i'm not seeing it battling off the mildew. im sure as you know i'm running the vegamatrix products but i'm also doing weekly inoculations of AACT, photosynthetic bacteria, OG Tea, and mycorrhiza (at transplant), so i'm confident my soil has diverse life, and lots of it! been topdressing insect frass, neem meal, and crab shell to help produce chitinase but it's just not giving the plant the immunity it needs once it's been infected.

all i know is hard work pays off... and eventually this will all be in the past! i'm interested to see how my amended living soil plants are going to battle off the mildew though for sure. i'm about to put my last 5 vegamatrix plants into flower, and after that, it's all amended mixes! WAHOOOO!!!! what i've been waiting for

Sorry for the lack of updates lately folks. just busy around the holidays. I harvested the black domina at 8wks to rid the flower room of infected plants and make room for some new additions. It seemed as if they were done anyway, not putting off new growth and purples were coming in. all hairs were orange and i think they were just tired of getting showered lol. they smelled amazing and the showers definitely saved the harvest! i'm glad that's the route i went.

i'm hoping to see less infections going on now in flower. i' haven't seen any mildew in veg in a couple weeks or more which has been GREAT. i'm hoping to see less and then none in flower.

currently in flower is jacks cleaner 2 at 42 days, a sour diesel at 42 days, dr. who at 30 days, more sour D and a gorilla glue at about 10 days. just put in more jacks cleaner, confidential cheese, and querkle today and these are THE LAST of the vegamatrix plants for me! WOOOOO!!!!! i'm still having a hard time changing my watering habits with the new soil mix. i'm still letting it get too dry and i can tell it's affecting my plant growth a bit. i'm going to try and water lightly in-between vegamatrix feedings just to keep the soil moisture higher.

my living soil plants in veg.... i've never seen the strains growing so well. i'm seriously pumped to get these transplanted in a week or two and get some into flower! I'm going to be ordering more blumats so i can get the whole flower on auto drip watering to make life easier and not have my soil moisture fluctuating as much from my old watering habits i'm trying to break lol.

Anyways happy holidays to all and i'll get some pics up soon of what's going on over here! lots of good to come in 2016 :)

When you say weekly innoculating, does that include foliar?
I like to alternate foliar and soil a week apart with microbial AACT. Mabey it's overkill but it makes me feel better.

You could try to ferment the chitin first. Chitinase is produced via enzymatic digestion. Fermented fish bones, shells, scales, ect all turn to a rubbery gelatinous texture. These can easily be emulsified in a blender and added to AACT.

Hey shluby. I use Safergrow Mildew Cure for powdery mildew and neem oil for mites. I have yet to knock out the population for good, probably due to shoddy construction and a wild grassy backyard, but I control them very nicely using those 2 on a rotation, although I haven't had to use mildew cure for about 3 weeks. But I am running a small dehumidifier and a vertical exhaust with passive intake, so moisture isn't that big of an issue in my flower room. Im sure you already know about neem. But check out what's in mildew cure. Straight up organic! Smells great. I'm sure it can be made at home.

washed the domina down again today. i could see where i wasn't thorough the first time. the shower really seems to do the trick; it washes off spores and prevents them from becoming airborne in the flower room. They're definitely going to make it to the harvest date no problems. man i could kick myself for not thinking of this sooner!
Your stuff looks dope. PM scares me. I have had no issues but these weak-ass Cookie-family clones-Key Lime Pie and Sherbet. I remove and/or pick the plant when I see the lack of sheen on a leaf indicating PM is about to show it's ugly, moldy, face. None of my others from TGA or my homegrown crossed seed-plants have PM. I run a filtered exhaust fan and room fans 24/7 in my larger room. I use an open closet at 18 hours for Veg (with the fan off at night as it's my dank-stank bedroom. I use a larger closet with a full opening to a tall attic with a room fan 24/7 and the heat just rises. That's budding 8 small plants at 12 hours. I used to get PM where I lived married with three kids 20 years because the spaces were so fucking small and cramped. I had the tiniest bud room, but with my C02 setup and all the timers and exhaust and fans on and off all day. A few plants had PM. Now I know...if your grow is set up right and you still get PM the strain may be defective. I've still used plants with PM to make seeds and smoked the results. You guy's' postings have helped me to get started right again after missing two years of growing. Weed is fucking expensive. I'd rather pay an electricity bill. I burned about $2K on seeds while I could not grow. Almost exclusively TGA strain-seeds, Clone-only strains, Chemdawg IV & The Purps seeds from Kiloa, a 10-12 year IBL Durban Poison of mine with seeds from 5-10 females every year, and wild crosses all over between these selections. My lights are all old HPS with fresh bulbs. A 250, a 400, and a 1,000 watt. I'm obsessed for life on bicycles too, which is all I ever did for a living. I also raised three excellent kids to adulthood. They know all about Dad. We're animal and nature lovers too. I love RIU. I think you, Schluby, asked me to put up a pic. Those are weed leaves across my face.

the domina are looking nice today. no mildew anywhere on them from what i can visually see. i'm sure i didn't get every nook and cranny but i bet i was close. i thoroughly washed them twice around lol. i gave them the compost tea, and now that the two 9lb hammer are down there's a little more space. things are looking good.... real good.....

9lb hammer @49days! some fast stuff.... probably could go 53-55 for a different stone but probably wouldn't gain any weight.

My 9 Lb has been in 12 hours for 6-7 weeks. It was slow to begin flowering. Looked super tall, spindly and weak, but now it's looking sick in a good way. It's putting The True OG to shame right next to it. A Sour Secret is rivaling it, but we'll see. I want to cross it with Dr Who pollen but the sacs are slow to burst so far. A Mickey Kush, Querkle, and Deep Purple are all waiting for Dr Who pollen. I'm gonna cross many homegrown strains with the Dr Who also. It's part planning, and part going with the flow of whatever turns up male in the end and making some new creations.

Left to right it's Mickey Kush, Querkle, and Deep Purple. All the same age in three gallon and a one gallon for Deep Purple. All female, had to force the Deep Purple to show sex. The seeds were in paper towels on 10/10/2015. I'll pull clones off all these before I flower them image.jpeg

I got some Conspiracy Kush & Chernobyl pollen which I collected last year which I'm about to start dusting everything with. You just gave me a little push, thx.

Hey yeah I'm alive and well! just been involved in other things lately and I haven't had a lot of time for sharing. I'll be taking a few pics of some of the Dr. Who i'm taking down in a few days, and letting you all know how things are going. Hope everyone is doing well!!! I'll be talking with you soon. Thanks for thinking of me.

the last of the vegamatrix plants are in flower now, and my veg is all living soil, transplanted to the flower containers and will be going in, in about 2 weeks or so maybe 3. definitely loving the half peat half coco mix so far over the all peat mix just for field/holding capacity of the coco plus it hydrates much better than the peat and i feel will keep the peat more moist than the peat on it's own.

any other half peat half coco living soil growers out there?

I think @st0wandgrow uses that combo...? His plants are always legit.
