I'm starting this journal almost half way through flowering this grow. I'm basically going to be posting my personal written grow journal online with pictures.

Okay, here's the low down on the growing system/technique I am going to be using on this grow. I've just graduated myself from a BC Northern Lights Bloombox cabinet and I've built a 8 plant RDWC in a 4' x 3' (roughly) space. I'm not going to get into the way my system works, just list the main components and if anyone has any other questions about it I'll answer the best I can.

4 Totes for growing containers, 2 plants per tote with 20" spacing.
COLEMAN 20 Can PARTYSTACKER Cooler for Controller/Epicenter c/w top-up float
RUBBERMAID 20 Gallon Tote for Top-up reservoir
Total system volume while operating - 35 Gallons in RDWC + 15 Gallon top-up res.
1/10hp ECOPLUS Reservoir Chiller
DANNER-Supreme 500GPH Pump
DANNER-Supreme AP-40 Air pump x 9 Airstones
2 x 8" Cooltube Fixtures
8" Canfan HO INLINE FAN
Canfan 66 Carbon filter
1000Watt Lumatek switchable ballast (running at 600Watt) - Hortilux 1000watt superhps lamp
600Watt Gavita DIGISTAR600 switchable ballast (running at 600Watt) - Hortilux 600watt superhps lamp
700Watt electric radiator heater
BLUELAB PPM Pen
NUTRADIP Remote Ph monitors

Advanced Nutrients Rootshooters for cuttings, then into 4.0" Rockwool cubes in 4.0" Netcups.

The 500GPH pump sits submersed in the COLEMAN epicenter and pumps water out, through the chiller and then in the backside/top of the two furthest totes. The nutrient solution is drawn back to the epicenter through 1 1/4" belly lines in a 2 row configuration. There is 2 x 1/1/4" and 1 x 1/2" bellyline running into the epicenter from the 4 totes.

The strain I am growing this crop is DNA Genetics Sharksbreath. I took cuttings from a mother I grew from breeder packed seeds. It was my first attempt at cloning and they took quite long, but out of 10 cuttings, 8 made it and are now thriving.

My nutrient line is BCNL's in-house brand from Futureharvest. It's a 2 part, very easy to use and seems to work very well. I am using additives from Innovating Plant Products. With the odd Advanced Nutrients add. I will list with feedings.

Welcome to my first journal, I'm a relative newbie in love with this 'hobby' and an avid smoker. Feel free to share your thoughts good or bad, I'm here to learn and I appreciate constructive criticism. Stay tuned first grow entry soon to come, gotta get my head right first lol

NOV 8 / 2014 - Moved 8 x Sharksbreath cuttings into new system. These cuttings spent roughly 3 weeks in a small 12 site DWC prior to being put into my new flower room. This is my first fill for nutrients in this new system, kind of putting together two different feeding schedules. At the same time I'm planning on running much less than the amounts in the schedules and then adjusting concentration based on what the plants tell me. I've also read that with the RDWC types systems most people are running around 50% strength. I figure better to start low and add than burn my girls.

My first fill I ended up mixing half RO water and half city water at 250ppm. I wasn't sure what I was going to do for a supply, eventually I ended up buying a STEALTHRO system and now make my own RO.

20Gallons - RO Water
15Gallons - City water @ 250ppm
115ml - BCNL - 'Common'
115ml - BCNL - 'Grow'
115ml - Advanced Nutrients - 'Diamond Nectar'
110ml - Innovating Plant products - 'Gold Storm'
115ml - Botanicare - 'AQUASHIELD'

I was pretty much experimenting at this point. The Diamond Nectar and Gold Storm are Humic and Fulvic acid additives. I was told these have chelating properties. If you know more about these type of additives and their benefits, please feel free to chime in.

I waited 20 minutes, checked Ph and PPM. PPM @ 310, Ph @ 6.3. Added 13ml of Ph Down. Checked again in 2 hours; Ph @ 5.9.

IMG_0278.JPG Here the girls are after they had roots coming out of the rootshooters I stuck them in the 4" Rockwool Cubes. The cubes were soaked in 5.5Ph water for a couple days.

IMG_0285.JPG NOV 8 / 2014 - The first time any plants have been in the new room/system. You can get a bit of a look at my setup here. The Chiller, Top-up Res and ballasts are in a separate room. More too come soon. This will be a journal to the smoke, seems to be a rarity with Sharksbreath... Also I apologize for the hps light and the photos. If anyone knows of a solution for the iPhone 4s, feel free to shout it out.
