sharing my modified subcool super soil recipe

there are a few pic's 1-2 weeks before chop. I tried my hand at a 5 gallon DWC on some Cateract Kush and that bitch blew up! My only problem was in that 5 gallon once the root mass got HUGE it was hard to keep the PH right and the water levels correct. It became such a daily pain in the ass I had to chop and toss. If and when I go hydro It will be on a much larger scale. I think it's like saltwater fish tanks. The larger they are the less problems you will have, the smaller the more attention you have to pay. If I were going to do a DWC run again I would get one of those 55 gallon drum setups that runs 6 buckets per drum? Or just straight up flood and drain! I am on my way to pick up the missing ingredients for your soil, doing 3 bags of roots this run. Stay green my friend! GL on that DWC for sure!

Hey... Is it bad to mix the liquid karma and hygrozyme in the same gallon of water? I wouldn't imagine either of them with the succanat would be an issue

Sidewing, First let me pay homage by saying thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I was inspired by this thread , your recipe, and results and decided to give it a try. I got all the ingredients and I went with your original recipe from the first thread but for a half batch. When mixing I accidently put 100g of kelp instead of 50g. Its been cooking now for 2 weeks. My question is, is this batch ruined? Or should I run it to see what happens?

only thing you need to worry about using too much of really is maybe the potassium sulfate, and epsom salt, maybe the dolomite lime also. the rest is fairly flexible.

i wish i would of found this recipe 2 months ago. im in the begining of my first s.s. run and i had to add some lobster kelp fert. for potassium. if this run works well im gunna try this recipe next

it worked good for me. im running my luck at DWC/hydro now. results are very good, but its scary because things can go bad fast and ruin a whole crop. soil is so much safer and guaranteed. the problem i had with subcool's mix was that it was too strong. i could taste residual fertilizer in my product and feel it in the back of my throat. almost like it would burn. using my mix the plants naturally fade colors in the last couple of weeks as they should. giving a clean pure properly grown product.

Sidewing, did you use regular tap between the feedings? I'm sure they will need to be water more than once a week. Im at week 1 right now. I know you probably went over this but I don't wanna have to go back and look for it lol. Also after feeding did you have any problems with over watering from leaving the bottom trays full? How long does it normally take before your trays dry out? I did the first feeding and my trays didn't overflow but they were full after the 2 gallons. I have high humidity levels at night, around 65% so I emptied out the trays. Is that gonna make a difference in quality or does it not matter if I dump the trays out? Just trying to follow your instructions down to a T....

Not sure I never emptied the trays. Usually had to water like 1 to 2 times a week in beginning. As they are more established 2 to 3 times a week. Higher temps need more frequency. I would water when the trays on the bottom dried out. Soil doesn't need to be followed so closely. Once it's mixed you're just watering to keep the plant alive. I always used tap water. Might be a little better to use de chlorinated tap. Such as a hydrologic tall boy filter. I think ro water causes problems in soil and don't recommend ro or distilled water

Ok cool, Ill see what happens hopefully all goes well. I just dont wanna raise the humidity at all since im high as it is already. Im gonna monitor it to see if it does bring the RH level up I havent checked yet. If it doesnt then Ill leave the water in the trays.

SN, I know your a fan of GDP seeds, they have a few new strains out right now. Have you seen or heard anything about them? Im lookin into gettin a few beans soon and I was gonna run some Sannies, Raskal and TGA in this mix. The new GDP strains dont have much info or reviews online right now so idk if I should order any. Anybody else have info on GDPs new strains please lmk.

Tga is solid genetics. The team doing Kens is now called blu king klone.. they are in San Jose. All their strains are good, just gotta find what you like. I like bay 11 and gdp. But I run the clone version. Candyland is good.

I have the white buffalo clone also. Their blue dream clone is good also. White buffalo sample bud is ok. Small buds. I have a feeling it's a low yielder. Is in early flower right now

I just checked out blu king klone but i didnt see any of the strains that most of the seed banks are carrying as new GDP strains. Here is a few of the strains I'm talkin about..... Coogies, The Funk, Grandpa Larry, Black Cherry OG, Purple Champagne, Kendawg, Phantom Kush, and Flower Child. Anyone know if these are the fake are real because theirs no pictures or other info on these strains online. But all of the seed banks seem to have them listed as the newest strains on their site right now.

I don't think it's real man. Doesn't say anything on the gdp website. And I know the guys in San Jose at p2p were his breeding team that made his seeds.. That's the location that carried the clones also.. then a lot of bs happened and that team decided to break from Ken/gdp and started their own thing with king klone advanced blu. They carry all the same strains as before plus a few new ones. Since ken lost his breeder team and there's no reference to any of those new strains on his website I'd say it's b.s.. But you never know maybe you'll find something that's good. I'd stick with tga under your circumstances. Or if you're close to San Jose go to p2p

Yeah I checked their site and their FB page and no mention of any of these strains. Its Crazy cuz like 4 or 5 different seed banks all recently added these strains to their list of newbies, even attitude. But I'm not gonna chance it unless I see some reviews or journals on any of them.

Which TGA strains have you grown and which was the best in your opinion? I was gonna get OGRaskals WHite Urkle and The White S1 for my next order. Debating between those 2 and Sannies Killing Fields. I know this SS mix is made for TGA but I've seen nothing but great reviews about Raskal and Sannies genetics. Any Thoughts?

only one ive grown is querkle but it was a really really short squat pheno that a buddy had. couldnt get it to do anything. but i know ive read good things about a lot of their strains. one that intrigued me i dont know if he ever released seeds of it was black cherry soda.
i think pretty much anything tga will be good.

i dont order from seed banks but to me it just seems like a money thing. for example at the collective i would buy a 10 pack of kens/blu seeds for $50 a pack. same 10 pack online sells for 100-120$. im sure anyone can post anything anywhere. anything has to be taken with a grain of salt. im pretty sure 'ken's grandaddy seeds' are no more. but like i said advanced blu is the same thing, just a different name. but their strains arent stablized or back crossed. in my bay 11 pack i had 7 males out of 10 seeds, i never found a female, i was just lucky enough to get the clone one day like 2 years later. i did find a good phantom cookie pheno. that was the only one i kept for a while.

im not familiar with the other 2 companies so i cant really say. im more into clones, i can see the final product and know roughly what im getting before hand. seed game is more of a gamble. you could invest 4 months to find out you have stress weed seeds. it might be a male. it might hermi on you.

best advice for seeds i can give is ive read a lot of good things about TGA. i know people find good phenos all the time in their stuff. and they use top notch genetics in all their crosses. i'd stick with them.

I was thinking if I go TGA my first pack was gonna be either Querkle, Chernobyl, or Agent Orange. Also wanna try Jillybean, and if they ever get have Plush Berry (black cherry soda x space queen) available again I definitely want that. I dont have access to any dispensaries so clones are out of the question.
I really want that GDP pheno you got bro!!

That stuff looks fire...
Probably never gonna have that in seed form again.....Cant get it nowhere right now....Its not online anywhere.

Anyways I'll definitely order some TGA soon then being I have two different batches of SS just sitting right now. Alot of people been hatin on TGA potency but I gotta see for myself.

My gdp is the clone only version I got it straight from Ken like 6 years ago. The seeds will be close but probably never exactly the same unfortunately. I have a ton of s1 gdp seeds and accidental crosses from running her outside.
