my guess is you have a trojan downloading virus's onto your computer. try a new anti virus or malwarebytes, try malwarebytes first and then if nothing maybe a different antivirus

I'll try if it happens again. I was pondering the fact that this is a brand new comp, I had just DL the anti virus and maybe thats their way to selling you the version. :/

Oh I don't doubt some smaller companies pull shenanigans such as that.
Make your computer faster...download our shit first so it clogs your system with a power greater than a hemp rope muffin, but we'll call it "diagnostic" software ;) ;)

But in your case, it may be just because it is new. And if you visited any other sites with cookies, you may be pulling in some adware, or something to that effect. Which antivirus are you using? Is it just an AV package, or does it have a firewall component, too?

Be careful what you download, often newbies will download programs that appear to be helpful like security programs/ virus scanners etc
many of these are fake programs that will install ad-ware/tool bars etc most are not that harmful more an annoyance

if you have a new computer did it not come pre-installed with some kind of antivirus most OEMs do
or did you buy it from another person ?
