Sensi Seeds and Soma Sacred Seeds.... True Quality??

Hey Everyone,

I am looking to get some Jack Herer and Northern Lights #5 from Sensi and some NYC Diesel and Amnesia Haze from Soma Seeds.

Each of these is right around the $150 +/- for a pack of 10 regular seeds.

This may be a silly questions but I am just curious from the more experienced folks.

Question: How much of a difference in quality is there by going with these breeders opposed to others selling seeds in the $50 range for a pack of 10? Or is it just the name that demands the price?

Input and experience is greatly appreciated.

Price does not mean quality. There's plenty of trash out there for 200+ a pack.

Those are fairly respected breeders, I can't speak from experience though as I haven't grown their strains.

$15 a bean isn't toooooo bad. There's worse deals out there.

I don't think Soma's Diesel has any actual diesel in it, pretty sure he's stated this himself. I haven't looked into his seeds or what he's been up to in about 5 years though so who knows anymore.

I'd go with soma and sensi because you'll always wonder anyways.
I find often a chemdog 91 for example is different from one breeder to the next.
I figure they got lied too also somewhere along the line. stick with proven breeders until
you've some spare change.

different varieties of mj are for different folks. I've grown hundreds and hundreds from all of the popular breeders and sellers.
I recall only two that were duds for me. I suspect times when someone says bad things about mj its because it wasnt grown with good controls. northern lights is a star. mr nice medicine man will be a favorite for you I bet.

Never had great results with Soma gear but I only ran 3 packs about 10 years ago so not enough to make a statement about his gear overall tbh. For the price there are some other breeders I would strongly consider. JJ and Archive come to mind.

I would never go with anything from soma. His seeds not only are way overpriced, by his own admission, they have horrendous germ rates. Nothing like paying 25 bucks per seed, and have them not grow.

To add insult to injury, the guy is a complete pseudo hippy, theiving jackass.

You pretty much have to research each strain sold by a company to get a good idea of what to expect. A company can have crappy strains and also good strains. Most of them only have 1-3 that are worth buying and the rest are just filler.

I've looked into this further Soma doesn't have any of AJ's cut in his Sour Diesel. I would stay away from that one. Soma was an opportunist and used the hype and strain name to sell garbage at jacked up prices. I don't care if the strain is the best quality the man stole someones else's strain name when his doesn't resemble the real cut in any way from reports.

If we want watered down shit genetics in the Cannabis world supporting people like Soma and GHS are how we get it. Lies, misdirection, thievery, they are unethical at best. Soma and others like him are the reason people are looking to copyright/trademark/patent their strains. If there wasn't people like Soma we wouldn't have to spend 2 days researching strains and the people that make them before we buy them.

Go look at someone like Breeders Boutique, they got great prices and quality genetics, they are on here so you can ask them questions. Most importantly, they don't lie about their genetics.

If you're on IG, check out Sensi's page, they have some pics of their NL and JH on there.
I ran 14 JH's last year and I ended up with 3 of the 4 pheno's. The smoke was amazing and a friend is growing out one of the more hazey pheno's outside. Pics below!

I rate Soma highly, actually I'm 75yrs old and grown 10 different strains of his, all being excellent, from Somantra, Amnesia, SOG KUSH, NYCD, Somari, Lavender, I forget the names of some of the others but quality is quality and I stay with Soma as he has produced the best stuff I've ever tried.
Please try his stuff before having a opinion based on here say.
Regarding the strike rate of his seeds I've never had a problem, just do things properly and they seem to work no worries.

The smell of Somari is something else, the plant is stunning, see avatar pic, but she is beautiful in every way.

I remember growing out Soma's skunk about 20 years ago, hands down the most potent shit I ever smoked! Would love some more of that!

This is not meant to hijack this thread but I wanted to grow out Greenhouse Seeds white widow for a long time.
I bought a five pack of their fem seeds. Only one germinated and it turned out to be an auto.
here is a a link to its grow.

https://www.rollitup.org/t/greenhouse-seeds-white-widow-auto-accidentally-mainlined.943664/#post-13693559

I also received freebies of seedsman white widow, turned out to be very finicky feeders and I burned them.
The pics are two different phenos, I actually thought about reveging the first pic because she looks good I just burned her.

I have grown out Dutch Passions California Orange here is this grow:

I think it is a crap shoot as @chemphlegm said you have to try it or you will always wonder. I am actually thinking of buying another round of white widow. I used to grow it from Willy Jack seeds and it was an amazing plant.

The best seeds I have grown have also been gifts from other growers.IMG_4729.JPGIMG_4794.jpg
