Selling to Washington dispensaries

I'm rather new to growing and would like to know if anyone has experience selling to dispensaries in Washington state. I know it is extremely more profitable to sell privately, but I would like to go as legal as possible in my business venture.

Any information that anyone could pass to me would be greatly appreciated!

You and half the country wants to sell to Washington dispensaries. The other half of the country wants to sell to Colorado dispensaries...

Well I live in Washington and have several dispensaries within walking distance of myself and belong to a couple of their co-ops. Just wondering if there is really any money in it, or should I scale back my personal op.

Not going to happen. Period.
Ok, well that's non-productive...Anyways, I know there are some farmers markets every other week around here and have been to a couple of them. Does anyone have any experience in getting a booth at one of these.

Please if you have nothing constructive to say on the matter, keep it to yourself.

That is constructive. It's an answer to your question. The clubs already grow their own stuff, they don't need small, inconsistent, unprofessional grows.

See, much better criticism. Thank you for elaborating on your previous post. No disrespect intended but your previous post came off as "trollish". I guess I have my answer, scale it back and don't bother trying to keep up with the big boys.

Yes you can "donate" you overages to dispensaries for a "donation", but they are picky about quality so your stuff has to be on par with their quality level. I don't do this because I only grow for my own meds, but I did talk to the dispensary in [deleted location] about where and how they get their stock. They said it's people like you, who are good growers, that supply them. She did say most of the people who want to "sell" to them don't have the quality so don't try unless you grow really good meds.

yea your better off growing your own privatley and selling it to one or two people you really trust, or jus ttake it all to a big festival or concert, dont waste your time with dispensaries, not only is it not profitable for the growers but if the feds want (and they do want, trust me) to bust your ass or the dispensary you will all be rounded up and thrown in a paddy wagon, state legal or not, they dont give a fuck, theyll throw you in sheridan and forget you exsist, dont forget that.

I was mainly just crackin' a joke. You can definitely sell to dispensaries if your meds are top notch. Produce the best you can and then take a few samples around to the dispensaries you mentioned. I think it's worth a try. If they say no, then your only out a few samples. Then move to option 2 which is sell to a select few patients or trusted people. Build up your clientele. Yes the feds can bust you, but probably not likely while the "choom gang" president is still in office. Your less likely to take any heat from the authorities as anyone in possession of small amounts of weed will be within their legal rights. They won't get arrested and be forced to rollover on their dealer trying to stay out of trouble...

I asked around at the local dispensaries and that pretty much what they said, hand out some samples and they will let you know if and how much they will want. Gonna try it out and see what feed back I get.

That's a very valid point! It's a lot safer to deal with close friends then to hope a dispensary doesn't get their supplier list subpoenaed. I completely overlooked that in my initial planning!

So, what about when Colorado and Washingtons laws kick in and storefronts can sell to regular people above the age of 21?

Would it be more viable to get your foot in the door then? This is something im interested in as well, and am interested in finding out why everyone is so negative right off the bat.

I wouldnt think it'd be *too* hard to get started, if you had the legit money (or a loan) to get a storefront rented for the first few months to get started. Apart from that, im sure most people serious about moving into a big-time venture like this would already have the equipment needed to move right in and start work.

to the post above me, not really, ive looked into it alot, im from washington, and the tax is pretty heavy and they arent gonna pay alot for your product, 1600 AT MAX a elbow, and there gonna turn around and double it. Not to menton that not as many people are going to by from these store because of the outrageous price as one would think. but same goes for selling to dispensaries, the ones in seattle ive sold to.. the most i got was 1550 a elbow for some fucking bomb ass dank ass.
KEEP IT PATIENT TO PATIENT , THAT WAY NO ONE GETS FUCKED. PATIENT GETS KILLER MEDS CHEAPER THEN THEY WOULD IN STORE. AND US THE GROWERS GET WHAT WE DESERVE FOR OUT HARD WORK!

Marijuana TaxesThe initiative creates three new excise taxes to be collected by the WSLCB:

licensed processor. Paid by the producer.

product from a licensed processor to a licensed retailer. Paid by the processor.
Excise tax equal to 25% of the selling price on each licensed retail sale of usable
marijuana/marijuana infused product. Paid by the retailer. This tax is in addition to any/all
applicable general, state, and local sales and use taxes, and is part of the total retail
price.
All funds from marijuana excise taxes are deposited in the Dedicated Marijuana Fund.
Disbursements from the Dedicated Marijuana Fund shall be on authorization of the WSLCB or a
duly authorized representative.
Initiative 502 allows for the WSLCB to enact rules that establish procedures and criteria for:

Seems to me if Wa state makes prices to the consumer in the legal sector out ragously high. It will only encourage and make private sales boom !! Just saying could be a benny to small growers who want to the take the risk.

The state will NOT be buying or selling or setting the price for pot. The state will be taxing it 25% at wholesale and another 25% at retail.

There are no size requirements for gro-ops and the licencing is following the same procedures as a liquor licence.

I'm betting that the high taxation and retail overhead will increase the price per oz to way over what the black market supplies, thereby leaving legal operations unable to compete.

I recently went to a co-op and straight-up asked 'em 'what's I take to....?'. They said Wednesdays are their vendor's days. Come then with a sample and they would give it to an analyst (gotta pay the $60\strain). Wait the 72 hours for the results. If after that it looks and smells good, etc, we can talk.

So the deal is that these dispensaries can't possibly grow all of the varieties that they carry in the quantities that they do and keep everything high qual. They may not pay that well, but they gotta make a profit.
