Seeds sent to house arrived smashed, do I have a problem?

Without my knowledge, a friend sent some seeds this week to my house. They were taped with scotch tape to a couple sheets of paper that were folded over and put into a greeting card. When they arrived, the envelope was still sealed with no signs of tampering, but all the seeds (10) were smashed. The package was sent and received entirely within the US so it seems unlikely that it would have been inspected, but it seems equally unlikely that they would get smashed in the normal transit of mail.

Any thoughts as to what level of concern I should have about this?

My best guess would be that your seeds were crushed by the machine that sorts out mail by it's thickness.

heres a good way to send seeds.

1.get cigar
2.remove some tobacco
3.stuff seeds
3.stuff tobacco back in
4.wrap cigar with plastic/tape to hold intact
5.put in mail

worked for me
