Seeds and age

This is something that I have been wondering and trying to find out for a while but ive had different answers. How long will a seed stay "good". Ive heard anything from 1-3 years to 10 years. Which one is more believable? I'd say the 1-3 but im not a pro yet, so thats why im asking here :)

Wow never would have guessed honestly. How about keep em in a ziplock bag? will that let them stay a bit longer? I Don't know why I would keep seeds for 10+ years but I guess Im just trying to figure out what the limit is.

Here is a article on seed storage for you hope it helps man.

Caucious growers sometimes find themselves in situation of acquiring their marijuana seeds up to one year before the planned germination date. What is the best and safest way to store seeds ? Definitely it is a very important question, because you don't want to end up with dead seeds which will not germinate in the spring, exactly when it is too late to order a new pack of cannabis seeds.
First of all you should know that during natural winter dormant time marijuana seeds require proper low temperature and low humidity, lack of light and no oxygen that could wake it up. Perfect low and constant temperature can be found in the fridge, at the shelf where usual happy vegetables have their place. But note that fridge climate is always much to humid, so we have to protect our marijuana seeds from that humidity by sealing them in air tight plastic bag for the time of storing in the fridge. Your seeds are safe and will easily survive until spring or your desired germination time comes. Protect from light by putting your plastic air sealed bag in another paper bag to cut off the light.
Above procedure is known to protect cannabis seeds up to 3 years of time, but usually more than 50% of seeds die during third year of storing so probably you will get better results by germinating and planting them after second year maximum. There have been reports of dehydrated marijuana seeds being stored for 10 years and successfuly germinated afterwards, so if you plant to store some unique genetics for more than 2 years, dehydrate them with silica gel first.
With the best wishes of 100% seeds germination, below 3 strains that were reported being stored over 2 years and germinated above 60% of stored seeds:

Notice those 10 year figures are seeds that have been dehydrated.
