Seedlings Dome or no Dome?

Hey, have gone through this a few times over the years and still not sure,This year is the First time Ive used a humidity dome and heat mat, Now I just hatched some seeds, some seem fine and others stretched and then bent over, it seems like the Florescent light is too far from the seedlings even though I have it nearly touching the top of the dome.

So when should the dome be removed, Ive read different opinions on this and I am logging it myself with my last 3 batches of seeds but cant seem to get a firm result, some do great leaving the dome on until the second set of leaves, others stretch so mush they become weak and bend.

Sativa on average tends to stretch and bend more then the Indica, but from my notes its not conclusive enough to say one way or another, Ive done one and removed the humidity dome as soon the first seed broke ground and had some dry up and die and others thrived.

Could this issues be genetics?

when from seeds you do not need dome, heating pad is ok to keep soil warm only need dome only for clones take off and get that light closer

I pull my domes after they are up and are starting the first set of leaves. Stretch means you probably need more light.

im growing sativas but no stretching. You def need more light if youre getting so much stretching with the light right at the top of the dome. How many watts of cfl's do you have?
