seedling question

hey i germinated my seeds they cracked open the tip of the root started to come out,so i put them in there pots with 1 cup of fox farm ocean forrest and 3 cups of fox farm light warrior. How long does it take for the thing to break thru the soil? Its been almost 48hrs and nothing. I have only grew hydro before, and by now i could of seen the first set leaves.

depens on how long you germinated for, if you put the seed in soil just as it crack it will take longer than if you waited 2 days after it crack and the root was long. I wait for the root to get pretty long then i put in soil and after maybe 10 hours the plant is up

yeah ok i did it just as they cracked maybe one might of had a root that came close to 3 cm but the rest was just starting out

Hope this helps: I started some Bubba Kush x Deep Chunk, Kodiak Gold x SSH and a SSH. They took about 3-4 days to break the soil surface with radicle just poking out of shell and being planted about twice as deep as the bean is tall. Just to give you an idea of whats going on below the dirt, I started some SSH and had an accident and had to destroy the germinated seeds that I started. This was before the bubba, kodiak and new ssh were started. I thought they weren't doing anything, but when I took the seed out of the soil, the root was already 1 -1.5 inches long and the plant hadn't broken the surface yet. Also, these were planted the same depth as the new beans. I thought that was pretty impressive for only a couple of days, and these were under shitty conditions i.e. bullshit fluorescent plant light, cold soil and vitamins (Superthrive) in the water. My new babies are on a heated mat, under 600w MH and only get distilled H2O. Good luck! By the way, why did you switch from hydro? Just curious, this is my first time, but I knew it had to be in soil. IMO, hydro's nice, but we ain't growin' muthafuckin' seaweed!!

dirt is less money,i bought a tent was gonna do a 4ft by 4ft tray and 40 gal rez ebb&flo but thats like 3-400$ then like another 200$ for a r/o system and so on. i read up on dort and seen how much cheaper it was i dropped then in a good 1/2 if not a lil more so i have to give it some more time still not been 48hrs yet my avatar was a bubbleponics grow i did with cfl's
