My best friend just passed away of cancer
He was in the process of teaching me my way around the operation. Well I am about 3 weeks away from harvest I have been reading about secondary budding I am wondering if this is still a option and have many questions
1 is it two late there are many small branchs and tiny buds at the lower sections of the girls.

2 do you cut the main stock off for drying
and leave all of the lower branchs

3 how many days of 24 hour light do they need

4 This is a indoor set up just wondering how many days of veg then how many days of bloom for this I have many other but this will get me going.

Thanks Rick

I always leave my bottom buds a little longer than the tops. Cut off all the big colas and leave your bottoms to catch more days of lights, usually at least a week on most before they turn. Plus they have a chance of plumping up a little.

you want 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flowering

If by; "secondary budding" you mean re-vegging a plant, here is a half decent how to post I picked up elsewhere some time back.

A Guide To Re-vegging

It is quite possible when growing indoors to grow a plant from seed, through the vegetative cycle, flowering and harvest, and then force the plant back into the vegetative cycle to repeat the whole process!

How does this happen?

Cannabis' life is governed by the hours of light it receives, if a plant is kept under a light for around 16 or more hours per day it will stay in the vegetative cycle indefinitely, if the light hours are reduced to around 12 hours per day the plant will go into flowering mode.
If, when the flowering has finished and the crop harvested the light's are put back to 16hrs per day, the plant will be forced back into the vegetative cycle.

What do you need to do?

It is surprisingly easy...
When harvesting your plant, try to leave quite a few bud sites intact at the bottom of your main stem, (as in the picture below). The more bud sites you leave intact, the bigger and bushier the new growth will be!

Aswell as switching the light back to 18/6, 20/4, 24/0 or whatever, the plants are going to need a feed as the nutrient levels in your soil will be very low, especially if you have flushed recently ready for harvest.
If it is possible, it is a good idea to re-pot your plant into an even bigger pot with good, fresh compost. If it is not possible to re-pot because of size restrictions etc then you'll need to give your plant/soil a feed to boost the N-P-K levels. I have found that one good feed is enough until new growth is established, and then occasional half strength feeds if needed.

New Growth

With the light's back to the veg cycle and the plant fed, the plant will start to grow new shoots. Usually it takes 2 or 3 weeks before any new shoots are noticed and the growth of the new shoots can look very strange, single leaves will grow aswell as other mutant looking leaves (as seen in the pic below). This is completely normal and after a couple of weeks growth the 'proper' leaves will start to appear.

How Long Do I Veg For?

As with all Cannabis plants, the longer you keep the plant in the re-veg cycle before switching to flowering, the bigger and better your plant will eventually become. Although, for best results it is better to wait until the re-vegged plant is producing a good amount of 'proper', full leaves again before switching to the flowering cycle.

I basically use the method described above by bricktop. Some plants are easier to re veg than others...but in my experience, the yield and quality stay the same :D

I have found yield to be less unless you veg for a really long time. Also, they tend to over-branch so make sure you cut a ton of branches out before you bud again. If not you get a crap load of tiny airy buds.

Overall, not worth it in my opinion. The only reason I re-vegg now is to make a mom out of something that I wasn't smart enough to clone before budding.

I have re-vegged a handful or so times and for the most part I would agree with you about yield and potency. But in the end I think it really falls into the category of being strain dependent. I know people who swear their yields improve and or the potency increases and I know people who swear the opposite.

Some strains respond well to topping or fimming or LSTing etc. and others do not respond at all well to such things. I have to believe it is the same with re-vegging.

thanks to all who helped out on my questions I guess the best would be to do as BloomBrothers suggested.

now I do have more questions I am about 2 weeks from harvest and is it ok to start removing the fan leaves ?

You're going to open a real can of worms with that one. Some people will say, absolutely, start removing them, remove as many as you feel like removing ..... and others will say do not remove a single one. Each will be positive that what they say is 100% correct.

Everytime you re-veg a mother plant she & the cloness get weaker.... The only way to keep the original qualities of the strain is you have to take tissue cultures. TC will bring back the vigor of the plant...It'll also preserve your original genetics.
