Scrog help

Whats up everyone, I'm setting my tent back up and I want to try scrog. My tent is a 32x32 is that too small for a screen? Also do I just LST throughout veg, then tuck in flower? I've read you need the plant to be 7" tall to be a real scrog otherwise its more of a screen supporting the plants skeleton.

Hey brother and good luck with your upcoming run.
32" isnt too small for a screen. Remember that the idea of the screen is to have an even canopy so that all the buds get (somewhat of an) even intensity of light (vs top buds getting good amount of light and lower buds being too far away from the light source). Also, the screen helps greatly when it comes to hight limitations (man some of these strains double to tripple or even quad in height after flipping the light).
You dont have to set the screen 7" above the growing medium. Many prefer to set their screen 12 inches above it and I set mine about 18 inches above the medium to allow for mire room to work underneath the screen.
Now, as far as filling the screen goes, what you want to do is allow the shoots to grow horizontally under the screen. When the shoot goes above the screen and grows like 3-5 inches, you can bring it back below the screen and move it farther away and into the next square.
You dont want to fill the screen completely and you want it only about 75% full before you flip (less full (like 60%) before the flip if you have a stretchy strain or a sativa dominant girl who's going to stretch)
You can check out my current and previous runs where I scrog 3 and now 4 different plants.
Its actually easier done than said ;-)

I just got done setting it all up, I've only grown once and I found a bag seed in an ounce so I figured I'd flip it after 3-4 weeks. Just trying to make some bubble, it's been in my windowsill for a few days but I'm considering this day one. Coco coir and perlite for the substrate and the leca is something I saw Jorge Cervantes do so I figured I'd try it out. Unfortunately I'm tight for cash so I couldn't upgrade my light, still using a 250w CFL. 6400K for veg and 2700K for flower. Last run wasn't too bad with it but I'm looking to switch to LED

Top your plants above the 4th node and when they are about a foot tall set up your screen and as they go above it bent the tips over and tie the stem to the top of the screen. Weaving sucks if you decide to relocate a branch you can't do it. As the branches grow just keep using pieces of twist tie to keep it going horizontal and tie it very close to the tip so it doesn't stand up. No fancy frame needed or net making skills either. Use a screen with big holes and if you need to bridge a gap use some twist tie across the gap for the tip to tie to. You can get twist tie on a roll from most hydro shops or garden centers with a built in snipper for about $5. This is what I use to do mine on a DWC tub.

When it gets to the edges you let it grow out a few inches then turn it back into the screen and keep going. As side branches grow out of the branches you tie them down too. Once the screen is about 75% full you flip to flower and continue tying tips for the first week or so then let 'em go. Nice phat colas ensue!

This if my horizontal/vertical ScroG setup for potted plants.

I've done a dozen ScroGs or so and made plenty of mistakes but have worked out most of the bugs by now. :)
