The US government is facing a total shutdown, starting tonight at midnight, if a bipartisan deal cannot be reached on the status of DACA.

Of course the Republican led House and Senate will blame the Democrats if this occurs, and rightfully so, because this is what a true Democracy looks like.

If the Republicans have the votes needed, and they are in the majority, then vote and pass your fucked up legislation.

But they don't have the votes needed, even on their side, so shut the fuck up and blame yourselves

The Democrats failed to stop that tax bill, which was a give away to the corporations and the wealthy, while giving crumbs to the rest of the country, so now is the time to say enough is enough, and stand up for what is right, and that is to let the over 700,000 Dreamers stay in this country, and not face deportation to countries they never knew.

That is the right thing to do, and the Democrats have a moral obligation too make sure it happens

The person that should be blamed is Trump, with his insistence on tying his $18 billion "Great wall, a really great wall" to the bill, a wall that he insists to this day will be paid for by Mexico, (like that will ever happen)

So, what do you think?

Let the government shut down in support of the Dreamers, or give Trump his fucking wall, and let it operate normally.

Even if this is true (I have no way of knowing for sure and neither do you), it is undeniable that a government shutdown would cause harm to millions across the country. Why do Republicans hate people so much?
Why does anyone hate? So harmful. I can't remember millions being harmed in any previous government shutdowns so I say let er rip. Smoke pot, have fun, shut down the government.

I'm not real up on politics, how would a shut down affect an average middle class worker? I know the gov has "shut down" before and it was like nothing but glorified words.. I still went to work, I still had to pay bills, I still slept at night, and then the governent "opened back up"

The US is fucked in so many ways, so much that I figure it is what it is, nothing that I can do about it.

My biggest complaint is taxes, and the rich not paying their fair share. I grossed close to $60,000 this year, but only netting around 38,000 I believe. Where the F*** is the rest of my money is what I wanna know. I live alone and have no-one else to help pay bills, im by no means wealthy, yet over the past 3 years ive had to pay more and more and more for taxes each year. Last year I had a total of around 10,000 I want to say taken in taxes, I got a refund of 1,000 fed and had to pay in state. The daily taxes on everything that everybody buys everyday isn't enough? Taking a 1/3 of everybody's income on top of that isn't enough?? Do the math, there's a lot of people in this world, WHAT is really going on!?

So for you, is just pure self-centeredness. Cool. You sound like a really interesting person. It is about time people who don't know anything about anything get a chance to run the government. The rest of us need a reminder of what pieces of shit your types really are sometimes. Enjoy it, something tells me that it won't last long.

Seeing that a large chunk of government workers are middle class, it would hurt them by cutting off their paycheck for an undetermined period of time. It seems like you are only interested in your own type, i.e. middle class workers. That is kind of sad that you cannot conceive of others working in a different capacity than your own. It shows you might have a lack of intellectual capacity.

You seem like you might not know the difference between a sales tax and federal income taxes either. That seems kind of unusual for an adult. What was the highest level of education you reached? Don't be put off by your lack of education though; as long as you learned to read there is a magical key to the gateway of learning just waiting for you! It's just up to you to pick it up.

I would love to answer your question about "what is going on?" though. You see, a whole lot of people who don't know their asses from a hole in the ground elected a man who is now representing his own interests above all else. Some of these people are so hopelessly unaware of how our country works (like not knowing the difference between state and federal taxes [even sales tax! Can you believe it?]) that they think that they know what is going on. These types are easily confused by the slightest detail. They still support the president. Others have realized that they have made a very large error and are now waiting for the next chance to do something about it.

Hold up.
why?how are you paying 22,000 on a gross of 60,000. That puts you at about 38%. Something is not right with your story guy.

yeah give the exact numbers, because now it seems like you making shit up. Numbers don't lie. Your numbers changed just in your first post. One minute you say they took about 10,000 with 1000 return and owing state... before that you say they took 22,000. Which was it

I'll post actual numbers after work and see if you think everything sounds right or not. Id like to know myself if I'm being screwed or not.

I understand that anyone who takes a position with the federal government in a non-essential capacity does so freely. No one forces them. Given that government shutdowns have happened before, it seems to go with the territory. You want me to cry for folks getting a paid vacation? Spare me.

Lol political on riu is a bad as political on Facebook. I wasnt trying to argue, maybe enlighten me a bit? I did start off saying I don't know much about politics, I'm just wondering why I'm getting taxed so hard when I'm not that wealthy.
What I get from reading your post; everyone's brainless and knows nothing and you know it all.
Fuck off. Go watch CNN or something. Prick.
Some here have developed rough edges just like anywhere else. This might not be the best place to learn about politics and our government, but with some patience it's not the worst place either. But basically, we deal with so many socks we have to have a litmus test to see if you are feigning not knowing about politics in order to spew right wing garbage. Sounds ridiculous but it happens a lot.
