School me aeroponically, please!

Ok, now that my grow is outside it is now time to try aeroponics. Just a couple questions before I start planning this build. I DID try the search, but if there is one thing I do not enjoy about RIU, it's the search feature. It sucks, period.

1. I want to use these misters that say they are capable of 4 GPH @ 20 PSI or 5.5 GPH @ 40 PSI. Either seems ok to me and should be fine from what I read. Now question is, how many GPH should the pump be? I plan on running no more than 12 misters on a 8' long 1/2" OD main line with a max flow rate of 240 GPH. The misters will be connected to the main line with 1/4" tubing running 20" vertically into the individual units. I know I could just get some huge XXX GPH pump and make out fine, but I don't want to deal with unforeseen stuff like misters breaking because of high pressure, rez temps etc. I know some is trail error, but maybe someone knows a good formula for this.

2. Drainage for recirculating. I don't want to sacrifice too much vertical space, but I know I need to accommodate for a drain. I was thinking about building a frame on 1x2's, or something low profile which should do. But, will that little of gravity alone be enough to drain the solution back into the rez? If not and I still want to stay that low, can I buy a little low power return pump or what would anyone suggest?

3. How long do I run the pump for during veg and flower? I know people say experiment, but since this is my first time...what's a good starting point?

I have a general idea of what I want to do, but I still need a little advice. Pointers are always welcome also. Once I design this system, I will do a detailed step by step DIY plan with materials/price list. I'm going outside of the box on this one and trying to design something a little different so I need to test first. Hopefully it works out. Anyhow, experts stand up!
