Sativied's Picture Journal

Actually no, at least not from nuggets from the previous run, haven't taken any pics after putting it in jars and it's all gone already. Given some of it away because I like variation and grow more than I need.

Regardless, it's really hard to judge the quality of that nugget in your picture based on just a picture, so hard to say if you can do better. Looks pretty good to me. Once you get results like that it's mostly getting better genetics that leads to better results and not something the grower does.

thats fuckin sweet man congrats again looks like your project is right on track
What a difference a few days can make, in good ways, and bad...

It's becoming more and more obvious that crossing P (chunk x CH) with my CH line again isn't the way to go. Nice to have some more seeds with whorl genes but I'm done with the CH for a while. The best CH phenos I had in the original and the best in the P-F1 and F2 are way better than the CHxCH. That hazy-from-another-mother is a great plant, would suit well for a round with clones from that one only... but, it has nothing the P doesn't have already.

Not a complete waste of time, knowing not to use it is a good thing too, and I will grow out some of the tris offspring someday, just not for the P cross.

Not sure yet what I'm going to do instead, got to see how the P-F3 turns out first.

I shouldn't be surprised because I had them in previous rounds too, but it really looks like one or two will be ready for harvest after 8 weeks 12/12 (the original CH non-hazy pheno does that too, Late Night cross too), that's next weekend. Starting to reach a point where I normally remove some leaves to reduce humidity level anyway (lower bud rot risk, always an issue here, partly why I normally don't grow colas like this). It's going pretty much as bad as expected though. :) It reminds me of grows in dutch grow forums where yellow=ripe and autumn colors is considered desirable...

Fastest tri:

The purple on the leaves got so dark if I wouldn't know better I'd think it was nitrogen toxicity. But, I've given only water for a long time.

Fattest tri:

Late tri (only main cola whorled)

Regular cola

The only one that worries me in as for flower time is the frizzle pheno and the hazy of another mother. Frizzle:
frizzlephenocola.jpg

Besides that it's in a poor shape, I have a potential problem that may require me to either delay the next round, or finish this one early for one or more plants. My old gas and electricity meter is being replaced by a digital meter. Energy companies work together with housing rental service and the cops to find and raid what they call hempgrowers. The guy doesn't have to be near my grow space, but I don't want to have anything running while he is replacing the meter, especially not a carbon filter + exhaust preventing odor...

Lower mini bud trich shot:

All frosty and most of them smell great and will fill up the jars again but the best have nothing to add to the P cross. Including, unfortunately, the best tri whorled plants, they just aren't special enough. Kind of a setback, but part of the game. Looking for a replacement, probably a silver haze, to cross P-F4/5 with.

Thanks guys. Considering how sloppy I've been this round I can't complain.

The hazy from another mother, still longest to go but nice swollen trich heads and getting cloudy.

Purple tri (seeded part)

Temps from 55-78. That's the tri that's almost done.

Despite the low temps I'm confused by the purple but also several other traits. It looks so much like my IHxCH cross....so much I can't help wondering if I somehow popped a few of those as well (others are clearly CHxCH). I just can't see how. Doesn't really matter, not going to use them for the P cross and can pop new CHxCH and IH to compare if I want to use them for the WP project.

A bit hairy on top but I'm happy with how she filled out and for such a fast one (8 weeks 12/12) it certainly isn't a bad yielder either.
tricolaf_full2.jpg
She started growing on me over the past 20 hours or so... That bad looking side bud is a seeded bud, sucking it dry. The bud structure on this one is turning out very nice also at the top. I can already tell though that the bud from this one and the other best tri isn't going to be very special. It's too normal, after touching bud my fingers smell like winterized bho. Probably going to take her down tomorrow. Rest needs roughly 3-7 days longer.

It occurred to me however that having pollinated it with 2 different males (tri and quad), there's a good chance, whatever this one is, one of those was the right CH pheno (or cross even...). I'm going to pop a few of the quad's offspring and try to get 1 female to flower small amongst the P-F3.

Funny how obvious it is, the ones in the two coldest corners are most purple. These two buds, the darkest by far, on the fattest tri, also nearly done, are in the backright corner near a hole where my hydro pump's wires went through, which is near the window, sort of like a mini intake.

I'm fairly convinced that the best whorlers and the purples are my CHxICE cross, which sucks. Not only useless for my breeding project but not a good one to fill jars either. The actually CHxCH plants smell great and will at least produce a good smoke.

1 down... Finally, couple of days short of 9 weeks 12/12, took the fastest tri down. Not doing any canopy control hasn't been optimal for total yield, cramping too many plants together neither (went from 14 back to 9), but not shabby cola:

Had two more of those larger side buds, seeded, already removed.

Rest needs a bit longer but going down soon too, got to have it jarred before they replace the electricity meter and the new plants (P-F3) are nearly ready to go under hps.

Other tri, the fatter, is going down this weekend too. Had nothing but water for weeks, I'm surprised how sturdy and healthy the leaves remained despite the color. Same deal as the other tri above, pretty buds but that's all it has going for it.

It's a little more purple-ish in reality.

All the ICExCH suspects have some purple and premature yellow, the CHxCH is still going. Still not what I was looking for, and this one's too leafy, but smells and looks like something I'll enjoy smoking:
