Santorum a member of Opus Dei?

So I'm browsing around the wikipedia article on Santorum, and there's stuff in there about him and his wife going to Rome to speak at an event honoring the birth of the founder of Opus Dei. Then he and his wife were invested as Knight and Dame of Magistral Grace in the Knights of Malta. I started poking around for connections between Opus Dei and the Knights of Malta. It's a rabbit hole lol lots of references.
Anyway maybe this is just news to me. It's right out there.

Nope. I understand he attended a conference, that's all. I'd be a member of dozens of groups, parties and religious organizations if people thought I belonged to everyone I spoke at or attended.
