Yar! Salad Greens all the way...

These little buggers are odd. I figured the switch would go in some sort of progressive fashion (like low-med-high). I started on tomatoes too, and noticed the pump wasnt running all the time. Switched to salad greens, and its been on non-stop. Im sure the other settings are just longer timer periods that turn the pump off at different intervals. Maybe they will be useful for the last weeks of harvesting to help flush, but not till then.

homeboy said that people say not to run the pump while lights are off...do you think this too applys to the aerogarden making the most effecint way to have salad greens on while the lights are on then completly unplug your aerogarden while the lights are off...

Not sure if anything has been proven - But if the pump stops running, the sponges start drying out. Once they are dry, the plants roots will take damage. How long will it take for the sponge to dry out? Not sure, but probably like an hour or two would do a pretty good number on it. If you leave the pump off for 12 hours (when flowering) then im sure the roots would suffer.

I am sticking with pumps on for now, and probably until complete.

When growing with soil, can you over soil the roots?
its airoponics- as long as there is air-water-nutes the roots will live!

The aerogarden is always dripping water on the sponge. The makers of the aerogarden say this is "better" then true airoponics as the roots pull water/air/nutes all from the flowing water, and not trying to "grab" it from the mist of most airoponics.

I would call this a waterfall or heavy drip system, not really airoponics.

Once the plants get bigger, the roots will be hanging/growing in the water reservoir.
