yeah
i think brass is ok, its not too tasty

once i used a plant stem as a pipe( called it old #7).
carved it down real pretty, sanded it smooth and painted a crooked smiley face on it.
it tasted great, i thinkwas a bubble gum stalk.

i miss old number seven

Yeah brass is ok but it tastes like shit and after awhile it starts too stink like shit...I would go with Zekedogg and use stainless if your still set on metal..Glass is cheap and its way better. If you cant afford one you can always make one with mapp gas and a cigar tube....

quick question...

If i was to make a bong from a glass bottle and i used a diamond drill bit to cut the hole do you think that the glass would crack/break the bottle or is it trial and error?

Its not that its too fast its because your not heating it evenly which causes heat stress. that is why lamp workers (glassblowers) use tempered glass also known by the brand name pyrex to help avoid the issues caused by thermal expansion.
