They are doing much better. I should have never listen to the online people. I know what a plant needs by looking at it. And these plants looked like they need N & P. I went to the store and got 9-7-9 N-K-P fertilizer. Gave them a monthly dose an removed som cfls. I was thinking they had to much light. Seems I was right. Dam Internet and your false information.

so far so good. does that plant have a dormant phase ryan or does it just keep growing and growing.
It grows, then nothing for a month then grows then nothing. Some reading said it was because the native bugs chew up leaves pretty bad so this is their way to combat that. By putting up a few leafs to maturity really quick then just hanging out for a while.

grrr.... o well at least they are moving forward

FYI those yellow leafs are just new growth. They start metallic purple >> gold>> yellow >> fade green its weird. I guess it's like a rose bush that has new growth that is red then fades green

I mean are you harvesting the leafs?
Lol cacao man.. Wrong plant.
The cacao tree is totally weird! It has that juvenile form which eventually expresses as a jorquette, like a five branched outgrowth, and after that it goes crazy, sprouting all sorts of branches from the whole plant. Its a clonal plant so it just grows outward like a strangler fig... Trunk borne fruit... Crazy plant! I have loved it since I first learned about it.

Well it has been a long time but here is an update. This proves that you can grow chocolate trees as indoor plants. They go dormant when the light cycle is too short. It grows slow because there is only a 2-3 month window for them to come out of hibernation. Im near the border of VA/NC
