Running off of generators...

So ive been doing some research on generators lately and was curious what everyone though about them.

Say you had a nice size house were you could grow in the basement with 10k of lights etc.... Obviously pulling 10k of power on top of your normal usage is going to be a no no, so a generator seems like the best way to solve power issues.

This is the site ive been looking into for possible generators to use. Thing is they are emergency power generators and would require a rebuild atleast 2 times a year. I would avoid shuting down the grow by having 2 generators. That way when one needs a rebuild i could just turn on the other one etc...

Anyone have any other suggestions, ideas?

true but if your growin 10+ pounds every 2 months i dont think money would be an issue...

... This is just an idea for the future BTW. I dont plan to do this anytime soon

generators are fine except for a few things..

first is the noise.. the bigger they are the louder they are... add that into your fans and shit.. and you are talking some major noise... so theres the first issue to figure out...

second issue is the gas to run them... running a generator will take a lot of gas or diesel.. so you have to figure out how your going to transport the fuel over and over and what your going to carry it in..

third is the exhaust from it.. you can smell the burn off fumes and the gas fumes...

fourth is the enourmous amount of heat they generate...

so yea.. i suppose if you can get a sound proof area with a storage area for a SHIT load of fuel plus an amazing exhaust system with one hell of a carbon filter they would be great... oh, not to mention the initial cost for fuel and the generators on top of the already astronomical cost of getting a 10K grow set up purchased...

I don't think you can run a generator for 24 hours a day for very long. So I would suggest getting the 2 like you said, and alternate them. You will still be getting the same amount of time out of them, and maybe even a longer life span.

Maybe there are new generators, but the ones I am familiar with...

yeah i didnt think about the all the gas i would be using. I beleive they are natural gas so if im out in the country, at a large peice of land, with very little if any neighbors, then i would just have a large natural gas tank installed near the generator shed (possibly under ground).

...But then again by the time i get around to having the money to do all of this and buy the land and build the house etc.... Weed will be legal lol
