Rubbermade container size question

Hello:

I am makeing a bubbleponics unit and would like to make a big one with 6 plant sites and want them to have all the room they need. What are the best size containers for this size? Is there a limit to the gallons it holds like if I find a big shallow container is that ok as long as the net pots dont hang all the way to the water? I see a post where someone is useing those big white coleman coolers and that looks like the way to go but I do have height constraints and mabey they are too high. I see some containers that are 6 inches deep. Is this not cool?

Thanks to the wize bubbleheads for showing us newbys the proper way.

I have a 30g res with 2 plants and they fight for room.
I would suggest doing a scrog. I definitely am my next time.
This will help you fit a lot more plants into the same amount of space.
With 6 plants, not only are you gonna have a jungle up top, that's gonna be a LOT of roots.
I don't think a 6" deep res would work, unless it's very very very wide.

pwizzle pretty much got it. i just down graded to a 10gallon container to to space issues, and i had to stay to two plants. remember your container size is the amount room your roots will get

i started a 3 plant grow in an 18gal tote and ended up with only 1 plant that was female, but had no room for the original 3 plants i started with.

if you do use 6 plants, just do 12/12 from seed and you could probably get away with growing that many plants.

just don't do like me and veg for a month and half because you will have a monster plant on your hands after it doubles in size from 12/12 cycle lol.

It will depend on how long you veg for I run 20 in a 10 gal tote with 1 week veg. I also did 3 Haze in a 10 gal. tote with 2 weeks veg. Its up to you I like 10 gal totes cuz I can fit 4 in my room. 18 gal are good too and so are 5 gal buckets. More water means more resistance to ph swings

what i would do personally is start off with a 10g rubbermaid container you could find @ home depot for like 5bux or less get those 3inch cups then do 12plants veg for 20days or until plants are 20inches tall then switch to flower and when you switch to flower upgrade to a 18g container for root growth.... i know its a pain to fill with water then carry it to your site....but thats wut i do and i only drain and fill once a month i get zero algae growth and plants dont mind.....thats just my 2cents .....

Really....I never thought about this. You only change your water every 2 weeks this way? You check the ph everyday and adjust the ppm as needed through the month I take it then? Now you are saying to do 12 plants in how many 10 gallon tubs for veg?
I dont think I will need to do that many plants....I could never smoke that much.

Thanks for all the responses. It would be great to see some pics of your containers and list the size tub. Its hard to tell which tubs are what size just by the pictures.

Thanks
