sounds fun, I think I am going to get some going for a 1000W run myself :) thanks for reminding me
Yeah man, this is some of the strongest stuff I've seen. The exact one I grew is BC Seed Kings Feminized White Widow. Just be careful about mold because this stuff grows DENSE under a 1k! That's how I lost a large portion of that last grow.

just got flooded with it for a long time and then the genetics went downhill. wouldn't mind coming across some of that old school fire, like the old skunks, man I miss those!

probably not. i think i got the rot because i grow in a place that has old nasty carpet. if you really want to prevent it i would brew some of heisenberg's compost tea. that stuff is gold and will make sure you dont get any rot. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I agree. Heisenberg tea is amazing. If you have rot/slime, it cures it. If you don't already, you'll prevent it. The tea will also give you explosive root growth and we all know that the root mass is directly associated with your yield (all other factors being the same). Check out and read through the entire thread by Heisenberg. I truly believe that even if you decided to keep your res sterile (no beneficial microorganisms) the thread will just open your eyes and mind to things ya never thought took place.

Also the tea is an additive that you brew for 48 hours, apply it once every 3 days and you store it in the fridge for a week to 10 days. It's easy to brew and saves a lot of money that would be otherwise wasted on sterilizing products or beneficial microorganisms products. Not to mention that the bennies prefer a res temp in the low 70s which also means ya don't have to worry too much about res temps being in the 60s
All I use (for my modified H. Tea) 1-2gal tap water, 1/4-1/2 scoop of Great White beneficials (a nice mix of bacteria and fungi) and a teaspoon to tablespoon molasses. Mix and aerate with a pump and air stone for 48 hours. Heisenberg uses a handful of ancient forest in a sock and a scoop of ZHO or Myco.

So do you have to dump your res every 3 days as well? And the only thing is it seems it would actually be a waste for me. I only need 20 gallons of nutes, and the ratio means I would only need like 1/4 gallon of Heisenberg's, so I'd never use up a full batch before it went bad.

Hey dude. No you don't change the res with every application. You just refresh the beneficials diversity every few days. The more diverse your microherd the better off you're. It's been tested and proven that the tea brews best when done with about 2gal of water. Whether you use it all or just a quarter and dump the rest you are still saving a lot anyway. Brewing it (rather than buying a bennies product) ensures that you have a very diverse population of microorganisms that are activated (hence the 48h brewing) and multiplied. In other words by brewing your tea for the 48 h you train those micros to be a powerful swat team that has multiplied in numbers and is ready to attack!

So based on this formula, I should double all the measurements?

http://forum.grasscity.com/hydroponic-growing/958893-heisenberg-tea-summary-cheap-easy-beneficial-bacteria-cure-root-issues.html
- 1 gallon dechlorinated water (if tap, let sit 24 hours or aerate)
- 1 tsp (5mL) Mycogrow soluble
- 1 tsp (5mL) ZHO powder
- 3/4 tbsp (11.25 mL) unsulfured molasses
- 1/8 cup (30 mL) Ancient Forest EWC

Alright....first you tell me what bennies products you already have (aqua shield, zho, mycogrow, great white, rot stop, etc) and I'll tell you what to do best and cheapest! If you don't have any, I recommend you purchase ancient forest and mycogrow (or great white though that's a bit more expensive). Honestly I have great white AND ancient forest. But when I don't have an infection, I just brew great white (1/2 scoop) with a table spoon molasses in 1-2gal for 48 hours. Water temp being in low 70s. If you have an infection, the ancient forest will make your tea even more diverse which makes it even better at fighting the infection. For just maintenance and healthy roots, mycogrow (or great white) alone with molasses is sufficient.

I have Mycogro soluble, and some Earth worm castings, but I'd have to go look to see the brand. They're like 6 months old, but I assume they're still good?

And my seedlings are just now growing their first true leaves. Do you think if I just brewed some worm castings into a tea and fed it to them it would be good for them? If I did brew just worm castings do they need molasses while brewing?

Okay so after some research I decided that I'm gonna brew up some EWC tea. Would I add that to my nutes in my seed tray, or would I use the tea AS my nutes for now?

Alright then to brew this is all that you'll need. 2 gal tap, tablespoon molasses and a handful of ewc in a sock and 5ml of mycogrow. Brew for 48 h and add that to your res in addition to whatever you're giving them (which I assume at this stage it's just straight pHed water). You always have to give them molasses when brewing so they can eat and multiply. A biofilm may form on your airstone in the brewing bucket and this is fine don't worry about it as long as your tea smells earthy and not like a dirty sock or gym or BO. In fact, ya may want to replace the airstone in your res with this biofilm-covered airstone.

Wow, building my wooden tent support by myself was a pain in the ass. Good news is it's built now so I can move onto setting up the system! I'll get you guys pictures asap!

I built a wood frame to support my Magnum XXXL reflector (HEAVY!!) and the oscillating fans I will be using.
100_2791.JPG 100_2792.JPG
Here's a wooden stand I built for my first grow but didn't use.
100_2793.JPG
And here's my buckets set up and ready to be linked together.
100_2794.JPG
Haha, almost forgot to work from the top down! So I took the buckets out and put up the carbon filter.
100_2797.JPG
Lots of duct tape! I will NOT let this leak! And yes, I taped the duct and clamped it, then taped the insulation, then taped the foil wrap.
100_2798.JPG
Then I had to add a center beam to hang the light off of because when I hung it from the side the straps were too tense to ratchet up.
100_2800.JPG 100_2801.JPG
And here's the stars of the show! For some reason the leaves aren't looking great.
100_2803.JPG
But the roots are looking nice! The brown on some of them is just some worm castings that were in the worm tea. The tea I added was just worm castings, so they should love it even more when I add the Mycogrow!

Well apparently the Magnum XXXL doesn't fit normal duct fittings so I don't know what the fuck to do now. The duct by itself just kinks and the elbow won't have an airtight seal even with tape.

Well, I got the ducting figured out. It's not pretty but it should work. The hood is gonna be in a fixed position, but that shouldn't affect anything.
100_2805.JPG 100_2807.JPG
Set up the buckets, put in the Uniseals, and ran all the pipes. I let it sit full overnight and NO LEAKS!!
100_2809.JPG 100_2810.JPG
Added a valve on the bottom of the res for easy draining.
100_2812.JPG
Here's the setup in each of the 4 growing buckets. 2 elbows feed water, and 1 feeds a large air stone. There is a paint screener to prevent roots from growing into the drain pipe.
100_2813.JPG
Added insulation to the outside of the buckets. Blocks light from the water, and should keep it a little cooler.
100_2814.JPG
My first distribution manifold. It leaked like crazy.
100_2815.JPG
So here's the new manifold. It leaks, but less. Might be from the high pressure of the pump (using a 400gph pump right now).
100_2816.JPG
Here's the buckets full with water, and the air stone on. Pretty decent airflow.
