Rough market for growers atm

Basically nothing that is average is moving atm at least in Lower Mainland as there is a huge glut of product in the market. Hearing from customers that lots of the small brokers between the big buyers have closed shop and they have no way to move their stuff.

And they think the LP's are just gonna waltz in and sell tons upon tons at higher prices and taxed to boot....lol.....uh-huh. Gonna be funny to see it all implode on the Gov and the LP's.
It's not the end.......it's only the beginning. The BM owns this and it won't be undersold.
Listen to Jim.......he's singing to you LP's & wannabe's and investor's.

Probably because Washington was the big market and now the state is glutted. I guess it will soon be small growers only, because where's the wholesale market? People will have to be choosy who they buy from. If you just buy some random weed you could be supporting Vietnamese gangs, who are definitely a big part of the problem.

Well, there is an argument to be made that once it is fully legal more people will be drawn into consuming cannabis. Especially once the health benefits start to be recognized, so demand probably will increase.

But a glut in supply won't easily be absorbed since it is a perishable product. Someone will literally get stuck holding the bag.

California is about to go through it's own bubble burst. They have brought thousands of acres into production in the past year alone and once these crops make it to market, you won't be able to give B grade weed away (kidding here, but $50 a pound could happen); same for any crop that didn't sell last season.

Eventually, enough growers will drop out to stabilize the market a bit. But compared to growing tomatoes or cucumbers, even $10 a pound at wholesale is a killing to some farmers. Investers, not so much.... ;)

From what I've researched nothing has gone south on the west coast for years, it all goes east coast Canada and then south.

the LPs know this, many are trying to buy surrounding businesses and getting into other enterprises because they know the prices aren't sustainable. Aurora is investing into hemp production because it could end up more profitable than cannabis for them.

I suppose it's hard to compete with west coast US production so they have to send it to the east coast. Illegal dispos in Vancouver are also selling about 240 kg a day, so that much demand is taken out of the market right there by those willing to be brazen. Doubt if those stores get their product from small growers. More likely a few of their buddies get the whole pie.

What I'm thinking is that it would probably be better to go into the Cannabis use accessories business than the actual Cannabis production or selling business. Everybody will have cheap weed but they'll still need new glassware when they break the old one, for instance. I guess the accessories business would become highly competitive too before long but at least it probably beats doing a bunch of work growing and processing weed for next to nothing. It's seriously hardly even worth the effort anymore. You're better off doing other peoples' weed manicuring for cash. That's the big grower's weakness, they're too fucking lazy to clean their own weed and nobody will buy it if it's hacked up by a machine.

With all the home growers out there, I was thinking it might work to have a retail store front where people could bring in their flower and rent in-shop equipment to turn it into rosin. Maybe also offer in-house lab tests to show sex or purity. Other take home rentals like bubble bags, sifting screens, trimmers, etc.

Not everyone wants to buy $3k worth of gear they won't use very often. But they may pay good money to rent what they need every so often. And since you aren't actually selling any cannabis products, you might be able to use the same regs as a head shop would operate under.

Hey, it works for home brewing.... Just a thunk. If you use the idea I get 20% of gross revenue.

Sounds like a possibility. It would have to be a very simple system though, to avoid idiots screwing up and killing themselves and you possibly getting sued. There's probably some liability issues. And how would you make sure there's no trace of THC on the equipment when returned? You could easily bet charged for possession.

I'm in a legal state. We can have up to an ounce of flower or 5g of concentrate on us at any time. Shouldn't be an issue if it is only residue.
