New to dwc....but my clone got roots lookd pretty. Now above the water there kinda thin and getting dark with no new root devolpment. But where they touch the water there all nice white and exploding with growth. Only thing ive added is the gh RS and floralicious....idk if it makes a diff but im using the gh flora line. I keep ph between 5.8-6.3

Any pics?

I'm sure someone with more dwc experience will be more help here. I'm flowering my first dwc now. But roots do excrete a carbonous residue that can look somewhat like discoloration. And in the bucket I've got, the roots don't really branch out much where they're not submerged. They just sort of grow down towards the water, then throughout the nutrient solution.

any help here @Cold$moke?

If i where to guess
Id say they are just drying out and becoming cord roots (can look beige)

Or if you have absolutely no mist from bubbles hitting them they could just be drying out.

Pics will help immensely

As long as the plant are healthy dont try to fix it if it aint broke lol.
But pics will help us see if we can improve it

Looks like it got real dry at one point.

Edit to add or had an airpump off and roots got to soggy and died then regrew

But everything seems ok now with all the new growth. ..

Your good

I agree with @Cold$moke. Did you forget to top off the reservoir? Looks like they probably just dried out when you stopped hand watering. As long as you continue seeing new pearly white roots you're good. I'm on my first dwc grow, I definitely know what root rot looks like..

I always just monitor smells

If your res smells like anything other then earthy or sweetish.

If it smells gross chances are it is

ok thank you for the replys i figured when the roots came thru id stop hand watering and let them get the water from the bubbles. i dont really know how far away you want the net pot as to im going by with trial and error.

I've found that mine shows the most root growth when I keep the water level about 3inches away from the bottom of the pot.
