Dear members,
We had a good plan to start up a newsletter here but unfortunately the people in charge were more 'talk' than 'action.' and now are never seen here at 'roll it up.' Dank and I have both put forth quite a bit of effort but need someone with some time on their hands and computer skills.

We have most of the plans on how this newsletter needs to be structured but I for one have no computer skills and am on dial up with no chance of speed dial for years to come.

Sooo if you have great computer skills, are of average or more in the intelligence department AND (and here's the big one) have enough patience to put up with me:mrgreen::?

Ok here is what we need from you if possible.

We have some articles already. I am not sure if dank has copies of his or not:confused: BUT we need someone who can edit to amercian english. I am canadian and dank is amercian so it should have consistency throughout.

We need it to have a certain format ......including colours etc...we were going to use rollitup colours but thats up for negotiation.

We might need you to help interview top growers on the site.

AND this is a definite MUST!!!!!!!
You need to be able to communicate to the rest of us in this small committee. The fact that the last idea was nothing BUT THAT, an idea, just wasn't good enough.:?

It might sound like a tall order but we are fun people here for the most part.

I'm a bit on the moody side:roll:

I am glad we have another person on board. we are looking for people who really want to help! This newsletter will go out to every member of the site! We are going to need a couple more writers and some fresh ideas!! Lets really get this done this time!!

I just sent skunk an email asking if he still had the format he had set up. He is not upset with the site or the members, he loves this place, and i think he will give us what he had!

I talked to him and he deleted it. He told me kind of what he did and it sounded like lot of work!!! You have to have a good editing program (like front page he said) but he said he basically took the html from the site and deleted everything he did not want to appear then added his owwn html to make the format. I have no clue about that kind of stuff most of what he said i did not understand. Me may be getting in over our heads here. I am going to vegas in th am and wont be back until tuesday of next week so i wont be around for several days. Please dont think im gone or have left you!

Ok no worries. I have front page BUT this is the main reason why i wanted socata. We really need someone who knows computers since this is where we are.

you can lay out a fine newsletter using Microsoft Word (Office) or Apple's Pages (iWork). the finished product can be converted to HTML (though will probably need cleaned up) for posting on the web and/or converted to PDF for email circulation (or to make it downloadable).

I don't know how much work was already done but most newsletters have something akin to the following:
Editors message (editorial)
Product Reviews (and other reviews like site, strains, seedbanks, etc..)
Subscriber info (what's going on at RIU) - maybe publish some stats about the site or something
Contests (making sure newsletter subscribers see all available contests, request for site contributions etc..)
Maybe have like a newbie corner (or just a tip or trick from the 100 already asked questions) and/or maybe an "ask the expert"
DIY section?

And of course, general interest information.

my two cents anyway...

Well we all thought that we still had ALL the info collected from the first newsletter BUT apparently we don't so we need to have some articles to publish besides the one that I wrote.

We need to get a top grower review: either male or female...probably male to start with since it is a 90% male forum. I thought one was done but I guess not. I might take that on, I am not sure yet.

We need a top strain review.

We need updates on what is happening on the site for those who may have been away for a while.

A few other articles and that should be good to go for the first edition.

We need to decide on what software and format we are going to use.....and this is where neither dank nor I have the skills needed.
So between you and socata, perhaps you two could edit together.
That would be great. I realize you are above average intelligence and seem anally organized so I would be stoked to have you work with us email.:mrgreen::lol::clap::clap::clap:
