Returned item and getting charged. Thoughts?

HTGS is fabulous. We have a walk in store 30 miles down the road. Point rewards card with numeric ID.....I use their store brand digital balasts, probably the same internals as the other name brands anyway. Blew a 4 wk. old MH bulb once, instantly replaced...no problem. They treat you like they want your business AND they carry your sacks of soil out to the car. Nice guys!
Do they etch the base of your bulbs when you buy them? My local htg etched date and a receipt# on the bulb to stop people from trying to warranty old bulbs. I love the place, it's a little ride for me, so I usually go with a list, they know me even though I only go 2-3 times a year, I don't like mail order.

Does anybody ever think about the fact that "absolute lowest price" might be at odds with customer service? I mean, at least until you can become a monopoly and beat the others into submission using any means possible - like Walmart.

Does anybody ever think about the effects of "perfect information" on society?

I guess it will work itself out in the long run, but by then I will be dead.

They used to etch them with the date, but the last time they didn't for whatever reason...
