Resovoir Passive Drip

So the bug got me going again, haha. I haven't really posted much on here, I like to post results. I put about 50 seeds in the ground yesterday and I'm just hoping for anything really. I'm not doing much just enough for some decent personal hopefully. I had to do everything offsite and on location because my roomates aren't down for anything in their apartment. Anyways I was wondering about an idea I had about a water system. Well I had seen the new aqua globes for houseplants on TV. In an engineering application could you scale that up to include say a 50gal water resovoir? The principle goes that since in a closed system the natural ambient air pressure cant force the water out, the air is exchanged with the water in the amount the plant draws from it, almost like a feeder bottle for a rabbit. If you had a hose line with multiple attachments would this also work? As each plant on the system would cause air bubbles to rise into the top and each line would stay charged. I was out at the bar with a a couple friends and we were talking about this over drinks. I'm really curious as to see if anyone's ever tried this or if it would work because I think if it does that could save everybody a lot of time.
