Replacing a 10 year old L.E.D.

I just pulled the trigger on a HLG Diablo 350 to replace my old and long forgotten Area 51 Af-135. I know my name is New to marijuana but that was in 2012. Ive been doing it about 11 years now. Come a long way from the CFL builds I started with. I went with the HLG cause I see a lot of good stuff said about them. Anyone running a Diablo 350 have any tips for canopy distance?

your gonnea love your hlg, what a great brand and every model I’ve bought has been a joy to use. Everytime I’ve contacted hlg they have been a joy to deal with. Def a suggested brand if I was asked! Like any new led I highly suggest if You haven’t learning the needs and expectation with using a higher ppfd led. I know even when switching from de’s I fried my first garden under em, I had em to closest range it said I could and 100%. Yes I didn’t kill em but I def “help” em . it’s a learning curve and I just know I got too excited and thought hey let’s ramp it up? Np? def didn’t work for me and I see it all the time so I’m just pre-warning because no one warned me ..

Like nutes, make sure to the learning curve of stronger led’s/ppfdis realizing that led def can hurt your plants if pheno doesn’t want such . But also enviroment ranges make huge sucess or stress by your choices during cycle .. Meaning raising the temps , co2 increased and also nutes given because of intake of ppfd/inputs make such. one suggestion is the led height is suggested 18-30 inches (depends on model) I highly suggest using it at highest height and watching the plants response daily. I don’t suggest investing in an expensive par meter For hobby growing and once you get ur general ppfd readings and responses/resulfs youllls def be able to eye the amounts/strengeth after a round or two.

for free ppfd/light strengeth meter I suggest a phone app, or buy a enviromental monitor like pulse pro/pulse one and you’ll know your vpd, temp of canopy, lights % and more. the pulse meter made a huge failure catching but also knowing if I’m in obvious overdrive on mistake but also if % of rh/vpd is off. These things aka enviromental make a huge hit or miss and key is knowing all the time vs only when ur in your room and also to alert you when something is off. I’m a cheap ass and I know those pulses and following the simple enviromental needs is key but also not trying to ramp things like dimmer to 100% even in mid flower Inless I know the pheno’s can take it. I’m sure you know this already but cementing in enviromental ranges and what cannabis can take is not true to core and you def can damage plants if there’s multple strains at once if you try to over do it. Like anything

light meter for phone app, im suggesting this as a general metering vs 100% accurate . This will def tell you where ur ppfd , honestly I use a measure more than a ppfd meter now and watch the plants . after doing app a few times I got to know where it was at taht range and in my sog. works and also pulse was if not more accurate and after a few uses It made me know my canopy/sog zones of where it’s most ppfd and what heights it needs to be for example the cobs/qb vs stripes wanna do it higher and if ur running multple like a hps you want to over lap the zone, which results in the outer zones being strong too

led phone app

if you don’t know about pulse: best environmental monitor ( own 5 of em). They will save your garden but also make your garden cemented in successful desires . I thought for years my grow was perfect, pulse def corrected and showed my mistakes fosure.

vpd guide/temp to rh graph

for example I run my rooms intill last weeks of harvest hotter vs a trad hps where I had temps of canopy 80f under (I do 82-84f canopy ) , co2 increased (1k-1.5k ppm) and vpd followed by such( higher rh) when I made to do so whatcha know the plants def liked it but also could handle that changes np. To keep mold gurateed you need a cleaned /deleafed sog but also good airflow in that part of the zone. another reason why people can’t do the vpd is their sop is off by not having enough airflow and the co2 isn’t being intakes to plants fast enough and molds can attack such also.

That is excellent information. The old Af-135 I could put about 8 inches away and not experience any chlorosis. If these lights are as intense as you are suggesting, I may need to increase my overall headroom inside the tent. I really appreciate your feedback.

Also a note on molds. I grow in the states, specifically the south east, more specifically Americas penis. I use a 1/8 diluted solution of green cure at 3/5/7 weeks of flower. I've harvested plants from outdoors that sat under rain for 2 weeks with no mold. Hope this helps for those high moisture environment people.
