Removing Chlorophyll from extracts

He had read something on reddit saying that decarboxylation is absolutely essential for high quality extract.
For the future maps, you should not take information from Reddit because anyone who thinks they know what's what can post, I suppose the same is true for the forums but at least the people around here have solid information.
I've read decarboxylation apparently converts "inactive cannabinoids into THC" which is more than likely false but it does cause THCa to lose the carboxyl group and that would make the extract orally active for edibles like Texas just said but wouldn't make a difference if you were gonna smoke it.

Apparenty absolute alcohol is ethanol so it'd be a QWET, I could dehidratize some denatured alcohol to get near 100% ISO, but I think the steps are similar. Yesterday I made a batch using Reddit instructions and while the oil was yellow golden and everything seemed ok; My hash ain't "smoky" like the ones I've seen so I'm sure something went wrong, maybe decarb.. T_T (It was too late when I read you Twich!)

Ethanol can make a very nice extract just needs practice to get it down. You can also use the ethanol to purge the butane oil as you've stated you dont have a vac yet. Dont get discouraged if things dont come out perfect the first few times. Its like anything else practice makes perfect!

Never thought some regular s**** weed I've been smoking for longer than a month would get me this high. I know it can still get so much better than this, so I'll keep reading. Take a look at my oil, 5g of QWET first run, It's a litle more golden than it looks and taste awesome. Second run is darker and "harder" but yielded a tad more.

You think cooling it will help haha thc gets cold and hard too i like yhe idea of breaking it down with acid like in veggie oil but I wonder if it will break down the resins too.

And if you're such a know it all, why you here? Ppl get on here to learn or help ppl learn. You just wanna get your anger out at ppl you dont have to answer to
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. Everything gets 'cold and hard' provided the temperature is low enough. Read up on winterization. And stop being an asshole just because YOU ARE WRONG.

Second I think you guys are misunderstanding winterization vs hot Gravity filtration. For potency, wax adds bulk weakening the end product. Hot gravity filtration works for absorbing impurities, decoloraztion, and extends shelf life.

Not w coffee filters. Activated charcoal absorbs impurities when the solution is boiling, it's so fine coffee filters can't stop it, but a <0.2 fritted disk funnel can under vacuum. Another option s to use a column packed w a wad of cotton and diatomaceous earth to catch the particles in the same mannor. Activated charcoal is a bitch to get out using other methods than what I described. Not even two coffee filters work!

Hi Oilmkr420, I was researching a bit and found that activated carbon will also absorb Tetrahydrocannabinol as well as Chlorophyll. Does this concern you using the Hot Gravity Filtration method?

throwing out the baby with the bathwater so to speak

Since THC is C21H30O2 and Chlorophyll
C55H72O5N4Mg would the carbon selective prefer THC over chlorophyll? Or the other way around? Is activated or graphetized carbon better for this?
