How many KW's before the power company flags you?
Have heard they do that, but would like to know the facts.

Pay your hydro on time, don't steal power. They only want your money. Especially if you live in Canada!!

How much electricity does a stealth micro grow take?

That would depend on the size of grow and the amount of light you plan on using.
Take the number of lights X the wattage of each divided by 1000 X hours you plan on running X the number of days of each cycle. That will give you total KW's per grow.

Example:

12 lights X 26 watts per light X 18 hours per day X 21 days of veg. time divided by 1000 (watts per KW) = 117 KW

For flowering use the same formula.

12 lights X 26 watts X 12hrs/day X 63 days (assuming a 9 week flower) divided by 1000 = 235 KW

Total for your 12 week grow should be some where around 352 KW

At my rates per KW ($0.127 X 352 KW) = $45.00 for the 11 week grow.

Thank you for that explanation. The 12 lights in the example use around 168 kWh per month. That is easily within the realm of a major appliance or daily dishwasher loads with heated drying.

Give me that much electricity to spend on a federally legal hobby, and I could come up with a nice reef aquarium. I could even use MH and/or high-end LED lights.

Perhaps a grow room might raise red flags, but I would think it would take a lot more electricity than any reasonable micro grow, freezer, or aquarium would use.

p.s. KW (actually kW) is kilowatt. The total for your 12 week grow is 352 kilowatt-hours or kWh. Perhaps an important distinction if you want to look for comparison figures.

This is utter rubbish unless you are growing commercially, and probably even then, its not going to be why you're caught.
