I have a cheap £15 HM Digital off eBay and a BLT (Blue Lab Truncheon) both do same job, both match up. I calibrate the cheapo every 2 months or so in the recommended solution but never needed to do the BLT yet. You just put in solution and turn the little plastic screw until it reads 245 or whatever it is, reet simple imo. Truncheon is better as you can mix with it too :bigjoint:
OH IT ISN@T WATERPROOF!!!!

Depends on whether you want a continuous monitor (if you have one common res for a system) , or single bucket dwc.
Or soil for that matter, you weren't real specific.
I vote the guardian for continuous monitor. If you're checking individual buckets get the truncheon since bluelab is a very good name.
The combo meter is a Guardian that you can carry from res to res. I use mine a dozen times a day. I've broken one in four years of continuous use.

Bluelab EC meters DON'T NEED calibration.

PH tips eventually give up. Bluelab is very good about making sure their replacement tips don't sit on store shelves for too long and go bad.

Your water quality measuring equipment are your eyes and ears as to what's going on in your nutrient solution. You want 20/20... Or 'not exactly'? The potential value of the crop makes spending the coin for a top quality unit a no brainer.

Hanna has a factory here in in The Land Of Sticks, you can get one cheaper if I order
from the US and have it shipped back here.
Blue Lab will be my next EC meter, my Accent Meter is 13 years old and getting a
little worn out.

lol you have stock in Hannah? I'm sorry if me saying the higher end Tungeon is better that that shit meter you own, perhaps if you had a real meter you could dial your shit in, grow some dank and afford a real ppm.
I said anything about the Truncheon (I can even spell it). I am saying a decent meter does a great job for 90% of people smart enough to know how to use them. It is obviously a skill we don't all share. As evidenced by your post. Thanks for writing.

I need one and i am on the lower end of middle class lol so i am ass broke most times.......which would you rec in soils/soiless?
Hanna Primos. Use the money you save for other supplies. But like I said to another poster the user MUST be smarter than the instrument they are holding. This goes for Blue Labs as well.

Why do things like this turn into a pissing match...the op asked for opinions on a good ec meter.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The op wanted some options now he has some good ones.

The only time I replace a pH probe is when I drop it. Otherwise my Blue Lab combo meter is faultless. This is why I recommend it; it just works.

It's recommend you change it out every 6 months
I keep 3 together to make sure they are calibrated
