Curious about the replies. Generally, they're helpful as predators
Usually they are, I've just never seen one of these before. Seem to be just on the pot plants. I have some nice lady bugs and dragon flies around helping out. The plants are outside in my yard by the way.

Only problems with spiders that I have is the webs. They tend to fight off leaf eaters but still make a big mess. Especially around the clustered leaf areas. Damn web mess... My experience at least

What part of the world is this spider in?

It is probably a spiderling, not an adult, probably a garden or orb species. It matters where in the world, if it is anywhere but North America I have no idea. It is doubtlessly beneficial, but watch out for webs during flower like dude said.

My best guess is Genus Argiope

This spider would reside in the crappy state of Massachusetts. I have and will continue to look for Webs.
