So i have to ask who do you guys email for contact at kingbrite for the CXA3950's. I went to their Ali page and it does not have any thing listed on their page besides lens. I am looking to make one of these exact same build and digi has these cobs listed at $47 wanted to see if i can get these any cheaper

I think the COB companies smacked down Kingbrite, the page does indeed only show lenses now.

Jerry started sending out a weekly email showing Cree inventory to customers.
So we can still get them? I was about to order 12 of them from him soon

[My first email was a week ago today. I'm waiting for today's mailing. (I've almost talked myself into COB 5K vegging lights because they will fit the space better than the current 4ft tubes.)]

Dear Valued customer,

Nice day!
I am Jerry from KingBrite, it is my pleasure to support you.

I am writing to update you our latest stock for Cree CXB leds and Vero29 V2 leds, so you will know what we have in stock now.

CXA3070 and CXA3590: [Details didn't copy to forum]

CXB3070 and CXB3590:

Vero29 V2:

I will update the stock list every week, If you don't want to get this email, pls feel free to tell me, I will delete you from the info list.

Hope everything goes well for you!

Best regards

Sorry about the stoner thoughts earlier, Jerry is still slinging COBs from the same storefront as before. I just ordered a dozen CXB3590 5000K 36V CD. Ten bucks apiece cheaper than Mouser (including delivery) with 9% more flux @ 85C (12,000 lm).

Edit: The 4.5% merchant Paypal fee is now applied to the invoice so the China price advantage is $7.50 per unit, delivered--but the Mouser part is only CB bin (11,000 lm).

fucking murdered Mars grow lol
I really enjoyed that video lol....I used mars once and sold em, I thought they were good at the time tho.......boy was I mistaken.

but to contribute to the thread heres my first build...

Courtesy of SupraSPL

@ 56.3%
(4) CXB3590 3500K CD 36V @ 1.4A (49W ea) $190
(1) HLG-185H-C1400b $65
196 dissipation W -> 85.7W heat ->
passive cooled heatsink 10284cm² -> 5.88" X 38" heatsink $72 (could split in 2 to improve uniformity/spread)
or
active cooled heatsink 3428cm² min -> 3.5"X36" heatsink (for spread) $45 +80mm fan +psu $10
(4) lenses $16
110.3 PAR W covering 6ft² = 824 PPFD
$311 = $3.07/PAR W passive cooled (great value point IMO, very efficient use of driver)
$326 = 2.96/PAR W active cooled

Im doing 3 of these passively cooled for a 4x4x6 tent and only using 36" long heatsinks....all 3500k CD

And then Im doing one of these on (2) 5.8" x 20" heatsinks for a 2.5x.2.5x4 tent with two 5k CD and two 3500k CD

waiting on the cobs from kingbrite still......So excited!!!! Sux I have to wait about a month or so to use them, moving to Colorado :)

just bumped into this thread tonight, good looking out realstyles! I appreciate you documenting your 6th DIY COB fixture. .
I gotta build myself a veg light at least, I want to build a 1000w HPS killer myself, but I don't gave a G I can put into it right now. I have been hoping the prices will drop soon on the COBs but they are holding their value so far. Need to build a veg light that will keep my nodes tight enough for my 1000w DE that i use in flower, until I get a COB fixture built to replace the DE.

I envy u so much. I want/need one badjy. The heat is the biggest problem I have with a DE open fixture I have to run a 8000btu window to keep things at optimal temps and that's killing my power bill bad! But I'm going to start with a veg lite build so I will be more comfortable with the heatsink work. Any advice u or anyone else that has built a cob would be great! How many 3095's should I use and at what spread to get my plants noded up rightly for a 1000w flowering light? If I went passive, what size heat sinks should I use. Hook a fellow grower up with some knowledge so I can have a nice veg lite.

Happy growing,

Yep, the max voltage output is 300V, which divided by 4 gives 75V room per cob (some slack there). Those drivers are 94% efficient with active power factor correction, are dimmable with a trim pot under a rubber plug.

how do you calculate the max voltage output? says its 200w max output power at .7a .....so I thought 200w/.7a = 285v would give you 71v a cob ? Am I right ? were you just estimating...Im still learning

I use 72v and get the same efficiency. I just use 700ma and I dim them during the summer to 350ma but I have the option to get a 1400ma driver but would lose on efficiency but more light and it would still kill an hps

Just curious when you say kill an hps, I know the efficiency obliviously is way better, but what wattage hps would compare with one of these as far as par or umols?

Data sheet...not that hard, is it?

Since a HPS produces a very similar number of photons per each joule emitted, the difference in emitted photons is proportional to the difference in efficiency.

The link doesnt work....I still want to understand how to calculate things myself. Being able to read a chart doesnt give understanding to how get the number....what if you cant find a chart lol....or the links broken ;P

Was my math wrong there? I need to be able to figure out these things to come up with my own led/driver combos. Right now my first build is based off supraspl's posts (12) cxb3590 3500k 36v on 3 HLG-185h-c1400b. So for one driver w/ (4) 36v cobs is 144v. 200w max output / 1.4amps = 142.8v....it seems that Im a little off or its normal to be off by a couple volts? lol

Also I guess I should rephrase the question, what kinda hps are we would this be comparable to ? a 600w hps?
I know 600w hps would be adequate to light a 3x3 or 4x4 foot print. So roughly what footrpint would be reasonable with this light?
