Made a shit sifter today. 16" x 36"
1/4" and 1/8" trays
The last pic shows a slide rail/ guide i have intentions on adding. Keeps the two trays lined up while sifting.
Just need to make a collection tray as a base.

Looks great!
-- And reminds me that I need to decide how my wormbin is going to look -- is it my memory playing tricks on me, or did you make one looking similar to this a while back?

The farm was the only other one I've made. Haven't gotten around to making more tiers for it. But... I made a base that the farm sits on. Gonna throw some wheels on it like wooden cart. My worm pop is really growing. I must have 10k already, or at least that's how it looks when I feed them.

I seriously like worms. It's weird, I know, but I'm really getting into farming. I think I may expand and possibly go for profit selling worms. I have lots of room for it, indoors and out.

I'm seriously considering it. I have access to lots of coffee shops for spent grounds. Lots of community Gardens around here too and farms. The input cost is almost zero, aside from the lumber. If you think about it, all the numbers add up and then I could supply my worms even cheaper than the going rate. Shit, I'll sell them by the 5gal bucket with media, eggs and scraps all in the mix.
All one has to do is just dump it into their farm. Everything's there and already established. Guaranteed success and high quality casting. Shit,....I'm sold. Lol

haha good one!
especially as we first read the text, then scroll, then see Venus trap
Beautiful addition to your garden!
:P Thanks.
Apparently VFT'S do very well in the exact same conditions as cannabis. However they need a 3-4 month dormancy yearly. They still need lots of light but 90%of the traps and peptols die off. Zero ppm water ONLY and acidic substrate. Never feed the roots!!!!! They will die. Baby red wiggler s are the ideal food as they are high in N and it's what the plants truly need most of. Or foliar feed salts.
18 hrs of veg lighting is perfect for growth.
12 hrs is perfect for dormancy.
Everyone should have a few pots of these things in there rooms. Aside from pest control, they're truly beautiful and have many variations, lots of red and purple varieties too.

I had 2 tiny VFT's i got from a garden centre, neither of them looked healthy as such and both of them f-in died after flowering. I've also tried sundews and the trumpet types from seed, one of the sundews germed but died after a couple of weeks, the others didn't even germ. They're quite difficult to keep happy in my experience, i read that goldfish food flakes can be used to feed them

Sundews and pitcher plants need very high RH. They're not as easy as VTF, but carnivorous plants need a dormancy, of which durring they do look like they're dead or dying.

The thing with the seeds not germinating, the seeds have a lifespan or expirations. Seeds that fall from the flowers will germinate in 1-2 days, but seeds that have been sitting inside a kit on the store shelf could be months old and usually never germinate. Also they can not be buried in the substrate. They must lay on the surface, in the light 18hrs, 100%RH and 82F.

In the past I've feed my pitchers osmocot pellets. Just 1 per pitcher and every month I wash and rinse out each pitcher.
Freeze dried blood worms work great too. But they need to be rehydrated first.
Fish flakes should work but have to be hydrated too. Sort make a little ball and spear it with a toothpick, and feed.

The white fire ape is really stretching up.
Slow to crown, but she was put into the flower room on the 2-1-16, she'll get there.

Can you explain your mulch to me? Is it only good for no-till, or could I still use it if I recycle my soil? I do like to top-dress with EWC, I imagine that it would help to keep them moist regardless?

The moss mulch is the same as a straw mulch in my mind. Both were alive at one point and bot help to retain moisture within the soil. Straw is probably better tho. I just couldn't find straw in winter.
