Why would the plant need to evolve such a mechanism against leaching if there wasn't a need to do so in the first place? Where are your citations btw.

There is limited nutrient loss through transpiration - a closer definition would be that of "Guttation." I wonder why you have failed to present a single citation. Even after all the insults. I use RO water and found a HUGE difference compaired to the tap and I have VERY good quality tap water. 41 cents a gallon at safeway across the street for RO water.
